Help Shape The Nerdery
« on: January 23, 2005, 04:08:20 PM »
Okay folks, The Nerdery is going into it's 11th week and I'd like to know what you all would like to see in future columns.

Any suggestions?  Criticisms?  Let 'em fly if you've got them.

More topless waitresses.
If you're ever in an argument and Entropy winds up looking staid and temperate in comparison, it might be time to cut your losses and start a new thread about something else :)

Maybe getting a little more specific, like tips for writing adventures or running games.

Or what's a group to do when one went away, another started working two jobs, and others were just too helpless to say anything? How can one bring the group back together OH Dr. P!

I agree with Fell, though I'd narrow it down a bit.  I think it would be better to do things like:

How to incorpreate PC's backgrounds into a campaign
Reaccuring villans
How to balence welth and magic items in the game
How to add the less used or taken skills into a game or
how to make a game more skills oriented with makeing it boreing
When and where to use traps, and how to come up with your own

Course I don't know if you want to turn the Nerdery into a GM help session.  Peronaly I think the method you're doing now is good, just writeing on what ever comes to your mind.  But I can see how you might have trouble comming up with topics.

Other things to consider:

Talking about WoW, what it's like to be a playtester (with out violateing any NDAs), doing some actual reporting on things in the industry, or even just ranting about something you read on slahsdot or another site.
Screw it, I'm buying crayons and paper. I can imagineer my own adventures! Wheeee!

why restrict it to GM help? How about PC help? How to make interesting characters with good backgrounds without relying on one trick or single facet personalities. Discussing the difference between pushing boundaries for story/character purposes and just pushing boundaries for shock value. etc.

Thanks for the ideas guys.  I'm taking many into consideration.  I'm trying not to comb over stuff that's been covered well elsewhere, or if I do at least put a new spin on it.  So a lot of the basic GM stuff I've stayed away from (except for column 1).  That said, I could easily include it in the future.

Thanks again, and I hope you all are enjoying The Nerdery!

She's not that hot... just look at her posture, she's as limp as a wet noodle with no personality that the producers of G4/Tech TV dont write for her...
