Why I ditched super game day on fri
« on: November 27, 2004, 02:49:38 AM »
Yeah, Im guilty. Guilty of ditching game day. Its entirely my fault.
Entirely.
Can you blame me. I turned 29 on friday.
29
Thats almost 30.

I spent the day eating triptophan flavored leftovers, and opening up gifts, of which I can say I got some nice ones.

I have a new shiny 99 piece toolkit, with a socket wrench set, and just about every other toy imagineable. I also have the Buck Rodgers TV series DVD's (yeah the ones with Erin Grey (so very hot) and Gil Gerard). Book wise I got a Terry Pratchett art of Diskworld oversized book, and The first 20 or so batman comics (in trade paperback form) a new collected volume of the Chronicles of Narnia to replace the volume I ditched at an ex girlfriends in an effort to dump her. And I now am the proud owner of an Xbox with an extra controller and NCAA Football "Go Tarheels" and Topspin Tennis ( a major selling point for my wife who loves tennis)

So yeah, I am the Birthday Bandit.....

Super Game Day turned into a simple game of Settlers with Nathan Gray and his wife (i won, primarily through buying a lot of cards, all of which turned out to be Soldiers, which got me the resources I needed, and the two extra points for largest army, of course).

Anyway, happy birthday. We may play games again today, if I dont' get too nauseous from my headache.

Wow, you guys get presents on your birthday? I can't remember the last time I got a birthday present from my family since I became an adult. I figure as long as my they call or send birthday cards it shows they've been thinking of me.

Jeffe, Halo 1 comes with my highest recommendation if you like fps's. Especially if you are going to play with friends. We had a lan party virtually every weekend for two years before Halo 2 came out. Very fun.

Very fun, except in comparison to Lanning PC games. I once played a game of half-life 1 vanilla deathmatch, on the map Crossfire, lanned. It's a 8 player map, we had 14 players. Total mayhem, so much fun.
If you're ever in an argument and Entropy winds up looking staid and temperate in comparison, it might be time to cut your losses and start a new thread about something else :)

I seem to be one of very few that likes using a controller instead of a keyboard. Half Life is very fun though.

Happy Birthday, Jeffe!

I too love the XBOX.  If you ever get the gumption to hop online (if you're on DSL already you can do it for free for 2 months at least) you're welcome into my Halo 2 clan.

Other games that are excellent on the XBOX:

Crimson Skies (MUST OWN!  Great single player, great multiplayer.  Best Live game before Halo 2)

Mechwarrior:  All the fun of Battletech with simple, arcade-like controls

Ninja Gaiden:  Hard as heck, but tons o' fun and EXCELLENT graphics.

Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow.  If you like steath games, this can do no wrong. It's sequel just came out so it should be dropping.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is a must own for Star Wars fans.  It's cheap now too as its sequel is on the way.

Yeah the wife bough me Knights of the old republic today...

I bought Simpsons Hit and Run, Robotech, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer (3 for 2 deal)

I plan to get on line soon,... but my connection is too crappy most of the time for lanning.

I don't think I'll end up ever getting an xbox. I'm quite content with my Gamecube, and I'm starting to sink into not playing video games very much, aside from when I'm with friends and we're playing something like Smash Brothers.

All Saiyuki fans should check out Dazzle! Emotionally wrenching action-adventure and quirky humor! (At least read chapter 6 and tell me if you're not hooked.) Volume 10 out now!
