What video game has influenced your love of video games the most?

BeyondTheFail:
I have to say that the entire Pokémon series has helped in this endeavor. However, the game that made me love video game storylines the most has to be any of the Suikoden games. Specifically my first run-through of Tactics made me appreciate the story more than ever before.

dhalagirl:
You kids and your Pokemon.

For me it was playing Mastermind on my Mom's Magnavox Odyssey 2.  For those not familiar with the game it was your basic alien invaders game except the master alien would taunt you during the game.  Especially when you lost.

Jason R. Peters:
The Final Fantasy series.

Hey, whoa. No dissing Pokemon.

I would have to say Mass Effect. It showed me what an RPG was really capable of after years and years of nothing but FPS's and RTS's and GBA/DS RPG's. (Not that I don't love FPS's and RTS's, 'cuz I do, but they rarely give you much power to make choices.) Not only does it let you make choices, but those choices actually have (gasp!) consequences. Such as characters dying if you screw up, or making things much harder for you down the line.
Now I'm left wanting more of it and I can't get it until March. Argh.

dhalagirl:
I'm not dissing Pokemon.  I happen to love Pikachu. But it's depressing that a game that didn't exist until I was in college was what influenced their love of video games.  It makes me feel old and I'm too young to feel old.
