I wouldn't jump to conclusions.  You're just well-liked.  This does not necessarily imply that you're successful OR that you have a following.

Well under that you made the assumation that you killed a dragon when it is possible that you merely killed someone who went by the nickname dragon.... or even an animal with dragon in the name like dragonfly or komodo dragon

As far as I know it means the same thing as stretch.  Like the cut you up and spread you out so that you usefulness as bait was "stretched" . . . .
