It was announced today. Personally, I just want to see the bit about the frog. That sounds uber funny.

I don't know if I'm excited or not. I mean, I love Jack, but I somehow doubt that they'll be able to pull the movie off without it seeming like "Ugh, it's just ANOTHER sequel".
-
Apparently the "bit about the frog" was talking about an appearance, earlier in the event, of Kermit the Frog. I think. The article isn't 100% clear, but that's what I got from it.
I once heard an unsubstantiated rumor that Depp had signed up for seven films. Would that be too many? I dunno. These things are a lot of fun. :)
-
Yeah, I was just being vague to get people to read. :P
And I agree they're tons of fun, but I don't know if they'll be able to pull off that many sequels. As for the rumor, I read an interview when AWE came out where he said something along the lines of "There's enough of the world to do a forth, fifth or even sixth film." So I'm betting this movie is going to be the start of a new trilogy.
-
Hopefully it will be much better than the third one. Though, I did think that At World's End did have the best soundtrack of the trilogy.
-
I disliked the second and hated the third. I'm not sure if I'd even going to want to rent the fourth...
...or was it that I hated the second and disliked the third? Hard to remember now.
-
Considering that they're both the sequels to the firsts (and unplanned sequels at that) it doesn't really matter. They both kind of suck.
-
I absolutely LOVED the third one. It was my very favorite.
-
The second one meandered. The third one was meandered to absurdland. The third one is my least favorite.
-
I dunno. I think it is wonderful for setting up a long series.
1 - Pirate gets his magical ship
2 - Establish pirate lore
3 - Create a pirate God
I can't wait to see what happens next. =]

The third Pirates movie, in my opinion, was yucky--to use a grown-up word.
The whole ending battle sequence was anti-climatic. "Hey I got an idea. Lets have these huge fleets not actually do much to each other and have the main two ships circle endlessly." It was the Pirate equivalent of the horrid ending to Harry Potter 7 where they circle each other to death while others watch. The problem with the 3rd Pirates movie is they introduce things that could be awesome (Jack's father, etc) and then do nothing with them. The Pirate town was essentially distilled down into 1 room when it could have been the site of a huge invasion-style battle.
However. A fourth movie without Orlando Bloom would be great.

That was my exact same problem with it, too. There could have been an epic battle. But no, it was just ridiculous. And Calypso turning into a bunch of crabs and making this storm thing? It really isn't a big deal if just two ships are inside of it. That whole movie could have been so much better.

Well, if it does the Tim Powers book any justice, it should be pretty cool. I recently read that and enjoyed it immensely.
-
Is it supposed to be based on taht book?

I would think so, since they have the same name.
-
Lots of things have the same name and have nothing to do with them.
xD Ha ha. I love your caption btw.
