The Greatest American Hero
« on: October 30, 2003, 02:59:41 PM »
Now, I never watched this show when it was on, and in fact I never heard about it before J.T. found rips of a bunch of old episodes.   (This is probably due to the fact that the show began a year before I was born.)

*pauses to allow the usual "you're so young!" jabs*

Anyway, watching it now, it's acutally extremely cool, and I'd like to hear if anyone else on this board watched it as a kid.

For those of you who didn't, it's about this guy who's a teacher.  Aliens give him a superhero suit, but he loses the instruction booklet, and he, his lawyer girlfriend and cranky FBI agent partner have to save the world.

And it has the BEST theme song in the worl.

He actually contacts the aliens in one episode and gets another copy of the instruction book. He promptly loses it of course, but it's funny (if predictable) anyway.

Oh, adn "You're so young!"

and yes, I did watch it. But I suppose you probably already guessed that.

He loses it TWICE?  Cool!

I figured you had the most chance of most people I know for 1. having watched it and 2. remembering

He *IS* the coolest!  I feel so glad I get to join the fandom even if it's 20 years late.

Now if the theme song would only leave my head for 5 minutes...

I fall in category 1, but don't remember much about it. It was one of my favorites, though. I always wanted to fly when I was a kid, and that would have been a cool way to do it, to have a flying suit.

That was on about the same years as Simon and Simon, which I remember much better because it came on in reruns when I was in college. Also, it was on when Magnum P.I. was on. We had a parakeet named Magnum--guess which of the three shows was my mom's favorite. And of the three shows, Magnum is the one I've seen most often in reruns. It would be pretty cool to see TGAH again.

And yes, "you're SO young!"  ;)

Because of our mom's preferences, Mustard and I grew up on a steady diet of Magnum PI. We did get to occasionally watch other shows, though, like Fall Guy, TGAH, and of course the A-Team.

wow your young, I remember sitting down with my parents to listen to the reel to reel and hi fi before it came on and then watching it in the den (there werent family rooms back then) with a roaring fire going and a little bit of snow outside. Oh and once I watched it in a chucky cheese. It was the Voodoo episode.

Such a good show.

If I remember correctly, didn't TGAH play on the same night as the Fall Guy. I think TGAH came first.
