cool commercials
« on: February 02, 2004, 02:50:35 PM »
I think we're all willing to admit there are commercials out there that outscore any TV show on the air.  So post about 'em here.  I was talking to my mom about it last night, and couldn't really come up with much, except for the coffee-creamer commercial with Wayne Brady in it.

Just about any Budweiser commercial is great when it first comes out..but gets old in repetition (much like the good ones from the Superbowl will, I'm sure).   I've laughed at their "Real Men of Genius" radio ads for years and I'm happy they've made their way to the screen.

I don't watch much TV, but there are plenty of radio ads that drive me to murderous rage. Does that count as cool?

I think so, as I too don't watch much TV.  I play a lot of tetris whilst listening to the radiio, though, so I know where you are coming from.

Do you all remember the horrific "Wazzzuuup" commercials from 3 years ago?  And then the one that was actually FUNNY - the one with the yuppies, sitting around in polo shirts and khakis, and saying 'what are you DOING!' (instead of wazzzup)

That one always cracked me up.

Call me crazy, but I love the new Quizno's commercials with the wacky little monkeys/lemurs/tamarins that sing.  They remind me of Brak.

Those commercials, while funny, are a complete rip off of commercials VH1 does with cats, animated the same way, singing The Ramones, Guns 'n Roses, etc.

I like the old Quiznos commericals...the ones with the English guys doing skits in history.  Like the first guy to ever use a pointed stick as a weapon, the first guy to ever use a fork, etc.  Those were really good.

I keep seeing the Fed-Ex commercial where the guys in the office are like "Quickly man, this package has to be in Houston by tomorrow, or we're all DOOMED!" "DOOMED!"

I know it's kinda dumb and goofy, but it amuses me.

Yeah, I think that's why I like it too.  Because I can see myself and my friends doing that.

I like the Rat that quit smokeing ones that show out here.  They are hit and miss, but have you seen the ant one?  It is, as Jeffe would say, Hi Larious.

Hi, Larry! US!

are those the commercials where he tries to get the second hand smoke? That was vaguely amusing.

Because you can relate?  Yes, I like the rat ones.

I'm also passing fond of the anti-drug commercials where the parents have to "practice" yelling at each other and slamming the door.

I think it makes a great statement.

Anyone who likes the Quizno's commercial should go here: http://www.rathergood.com/moon_song/

It's hilarious. I wish they would make more of them.
