Ever since Elantris was published and I obtained my own copy thereof, I've wanted to go to a signing and meet Brandon (again) and get it autographed. Of course, I already have his autograph on my copy of TLE Issue 41, but that's not the same thing.
But every. single. time I hear about a signing, there's some reason why I can't go.
Last night, I found out that he was going to be at the Provo Library from 11 to 3. My husband had plans from about 1:00 on, but 11:00 we could do. So we packed up our kids and headed out, only to find out that the Borders employee was misinformed; Brandon was doing a 2-hour-long panel (great without kids, not so great with two under the age of 3), followed by a signing from 2 to 4. I almost (almost!) decided to stay anyway, but then my 3-year-old got hungry and tired and cranky a little after noon, and we had to go.
I thought about coming back alone, even with the two kids, but my one-year-old has been napping for most of the 2–4 time slot. Ah well. At least Brandon lives here and there will be other days.
Incidentally, the little boy who pulled the fire alarm today was part of the group we abandoned when we left early. Maybe it's just as well. ;D
I did SEE you today, Brandon, but I will have to wait for the signed books. I'll get you next time, Sanderson, if it's the last thing I do.
(No, I'm really not at all creepy.)

He was in your group? That's hilarious. I could hear them playing around in the hall. I was standing at the back of the room when he pulled the alarm. All I could think was 'his poor parents.' The panel was fun. Brandon read from Alcatraz Versus the Evil Librarians. I wish I could have stayed longer at the signing, but my baby girl was getting hungry.
-
Man I wish I was there but I can't because I live about half way across the counry....... :-\
-
My little boy reached for the fire alarm on the way to the room where the panel was, and I thought, "What genius put fire alarms where young children can reach them?"
-
Yeah....not the smartest hing to do.
-
At the least there should have been someone keeping an eye on that and the other alarms with so many children running around. Hindsight is 20/20 though. :) It provided some humorous times during the panel.
-
Must have been. ;D

I showed up at 3 something during the signing and met all sorts of people. Sorry to have missed you!

They HAVE to be 4 foot off the ground, it's fire code regulation.
-
That mirrors my experience perfectly. I couldn't make it to either of Brandon's recent Happy Valley-area signings. >:(

I almost missed him this time, too.
of course, in this context, 'almost' means 'about a thousand miles'
I wish he'd come to chicago someday...
-
Yeah, I know how you feel. He's never coming to me ether.
-
I was at a stables where a horse pulled the fire alarm once.
-
Didn't he pull it more than once?
-
Who the kid or the horse?

I'd make the 3 hour drive to Chicago for that, haha.

(The horse, that is.) I remember the one time, when I was there, but I sort of vaguely recall that there was another time too. Possibly a different horse.

I sent an email suggesting that he appear at C2E2 (http://www.chicagocomicandentertainmentexpo.com/) next april, but no response so far

Bug Ookla about that stuff, I know you've mentioned it Fell on his board so we're aware of it but Brandon rarely deals with appearances schedule directly, it's all his wife and now, to a lesser degree, Ookla who manage that.
-
Ookla will manage the signings?? :o Ohh dear.
-
(@ Bastille) Why is that a bad thing?
-
Have you not seen Ookla's portrait, I mean forum avatar?
-
Nice one *sends Reonard a cyber five*

Ookla was one of the first of us to read certian books and now he is setting up where BS comes and doesn his signings.
