Title: Any Copy/Commissioning Editors that can help me?
Post by: Swiggly on March 31, 2008, 02:40:46 AM
I have this project for my career and life planning class where I have to interview someone in the career I want to be in, you know, when I grow up.

I really hate that phrase.

Anywho, I don't have the questions yet, but we can easily conduct the interview over PM as soon as I get them.

But you know, someone who can actually do their job, and give me information.

Maybe try putting something about "for a school project" or something in the title of the thread. At first glance it seems like it might be more like someone wanting somebody to look at a book idea, or a book.....but, I am not sure that anyone here has that particular job either. I just don't know anyone well enough to know for sure. Good luck, and I hope you find someone to talk to :)

I'm a copy editor, among other things. Try to grab me on IM sometime today.

It's unclear what exactly you're looking for. An acquisitions editor? It's much different than a copy editor. A little more information would be good so we know exactly what it is you mean.

If you mean that you want to interview an editor working in publishing, then PM me.

Aha, now I see your signature and have a tiny bit more information. You want to be a "publisher" at Tor when you grow up. Do you really mean you want to be a publisher? Or that you want to work at a publisher?

Well, that was before I actually did anyresearch, and I'm still kind of in the dark about everything. What kind of editor are you?
