So I put mine up as a blog post. Which I will link to here. Critique appreciated, but not necessary. I'm mainly shooting for getting on WE. *crosses fingers*
A lot of people describe Scalzi’s Old Man's War novels as military science fiction, but I would classify its sequel Zoë’s Tale as a space opera. It’s a story about, well, Zoë, a teenage girl whose parents are invited to take leadership roles in building a colony on a new planet. Zoë is an enthusiastic member of the group sent to colonize Roanoke, despite the risks—and the risks are considerable even before the political machinations of greater powers boil to the surface. Gavilar was learning to read, wasn't he?I don't think so. When Szeth wrote Gavilar's last words next to him everyone assumed that Gavilar had done it himself. This led people to think he could read and write. Even though he probably couldn't.
Or maybe they have acidic saliva that makes it easier to dig. Watch out for those acidspren though.I don't think burrowing into solid rock is gonna work very well.
How about soulcasting owls. They have a limited power to soulcast stone in order to burrow, granted to them by a shard. Nothing powerful or useful except in order to dig through stone.
