Title: Where can we buy "What the Storm Means" ebook?
Post by: Xcom78 on September 17, 2009, 03:50:04 AM
The only place I have found that is selling it is amazon and that is for the kindle only. Not everyone owns a kindle. Where can we buy a copy so we can read it on our PC/Macs?

Tor.com is bound to have a list up sometime tomorrow, if not at midnight EST.

On a related subject; am I the only one who doesn't want to pay for the prologue twice? I mean, I've pre-ordered the book, which supposedly includes the prologue, so I'm not going to pay 3 dollar for a digital version of something I've ordered on paper anyway...

Feels like a rip-off to me.

It's not like they're forcing you to buy it.  All you need to avoid paying for the prologue twice is the patience to wait for October 27th.

I don't mind buying the prologue. It's only a couple of bucks. You can probably find enough spare change in your car or your couch to buy this. It's over  1 1/2 hours long.

People go and spend $10 on a 90 minute movie, and then go buy the book or vice versa. It's just new media. Start thinking of it as supporting new authors as opposed to getting ripped off.  The more successful Brandon Sanderson is the more likely they are to go looking for the "Next Brandon Sanderson."

I understand it's only 3 dollars which is not much, but I've pre-ordered the hardcover for a whooping 28 euros (that's 41 dollar!), so I think I'm supporting Brandon quite enough with this.

And indeed, I'm not forced to buy the prologue, and I won't. It's the principle of the thing.

I was gonna wait. And then I saw a link to a discussion page about when it would be available. And I saw that it was. And I went to that page. And it was Barnes and Noble, where I have an account. And I only had to click twice. And then I realized, "Oh yeah, I was gonna wait." And then I read it. And it was really really good.

apbadd: Get it from Barnes and Nobles. They have a reader downloadable for free.

I wasn't planning on buying the prologue twice, but I couldn't resist. And I must say I am so much more excited for the rest of the book now. Maybe it was because Jordan wrote a lot of the prologue, but I thought the voice was much more Wheel of Time than chapter 1 was.

And the last page of the prologue. I'd been hoping that would happen for so so so so long.

I got mine at powells.com, because apparently B&N think they're too awesome to sell stuff outside the USA.
