Guild Wars: Factions

The review has arrived: http://www.timewastersguide.com/view.php?id=1441

I would have posted it sooner, but I was too busy playing the dang thing. Hooray for game addiction!

You too? My husband doesn't have Factions, but he has been playing Guild Wars for the last two months almost solid when he's not working, eating, or sleeping (he didn't own the game previously). Something about being off from school. Like that's an excuse.

Just be glad it's a free online game and not something like WOW that charges a monthly fee.
Screw it, I'm buying crayons and paper. I can imagineer my own adventures! Wheeee!

After managing to stay clean for six months, I went back on WoW today and renewed my subscription.  But I'm not addicted.  No.  Not at all.

What Realm do you play on, Parker?

And Tink, your husband really ought to get factions. As much as I enjoyed the original Guild Wars, I thought Factions was much better.

I'm waiting for the next expansion to come out in October/november so Factions will go down in price (hopefully).

We'll wait till he's tired of the original. He's still enjoying it.

And I agree with Sprigg about not having a monthly subscription, which is exactly why I wouldn't let him get WoW! :)

I have characters on Durotan, Firetree, and . . . what's that third?  Stonemaul--don't play that one much any more.  I have no 60s--I'm an altaholic.  I have about 3 or 4 around 40, and some 20s.  Definitely not a power gamer, but I love that Auction House.

Come join us on Nathrezim, then. We've already got a lot of locals on there, and we're always open for more.

I think the auction house is my favorite part of the game. I made 47g over the weekend just in trades.

I might take you up on that.  The only trouble is that I have friends on both the realms I'm on already, and splitting my way three ways might get pretty crazy.  What's your main character's name on Nathrezim?  Maybe I'll look you up.

And as for the AH, have you ever used Auctioneer?  It's a complex little add-on that lets you analyze the AH much more easily.  It'll take me a while to get back into it, but in my day, I was making big money really easily--100g per trade, sometimes more--although usually less, of course.  It's all about finding the rock bottom deals on there, snatching them up, then reselling them.

I got to the point (due to inflation) that I wouldn't touch the AH for any reason, I got tired of paying 10 times the amount for something then I payed a month before.

But that's the beauty of the AH--it makes you more inflation proof.  If you're having to buy things for ten times the price, you can also sell them for ten times.  It evens out in the end, IMO.

In the long run it doesn't, that was the case with FFXI and the inflation caused in the auction house made it unusable by anyone but the top levels.

Well that would certainly suck.  Still, it's been 6 months, and I'm noticing some prices have gone down, some stayed the same, and some gone up.  How long did it take for that to happen to FFXI?

about 2.  Though I should mention that in FFXI the deposit you put down doesn't get returned if you don't sell your item and it's based off the price you set not the merchant price.
