Title: Fall Book Tour
Post by: RedAragorn on September 01, 2006, 05:29:04 PM
So, Brandon, what exactly is and is not on your itinerary for your tour this fall?  Those of us up here in the Pacific Northwest, especially those with expecting wives who can't get to Utah on a regular basis, would still like to see you every now and again and maybe even treat you to dinner while you're in the Portland Metro area.  I figured I'd ask about the whole itinerary in case you were coming anywhere close enough to drive to without undue travel time.

P.S. Did you ever get in touch with Powell's Books (http://www.powells.com) and find out if you can do a signing there??  I would think they'd be all about that!

Tom.

Doing a signing at powells on the second weekend in December, I believe. I have confirmed dates in:

San Diego. LA. San Francisco. Seattle. Portland. Vegas. Logan. Provo. And pocatello. Working on boise and Fresno.

Let me know when you're in Seattle and I'll get Mistborn then. That's rather more convenient than sending it to Utah if you're going to be here sometime.

Is your wife coming with you, or any other authors? I'd be glad to give you all a tour of Wizards--which is our new building, which you haven't seen.

I missed you in Pocatello by only a couple of days  :'(.

Hey, have you said yet when you'll be in Seattle?

I know you said you'd be in Portland the second weekend of December, but do you know any more detail about the trip itinerary than that?  Any chance you'll have time to grab lunch or something?  Granted, we'll probably have a two week old at that point, but I'd like to at least get together for a little while when you're in town here.

Wow, that's quite a tour.  Too bad the order doesn't make the best geographic sense.

Yes, December.

And I would have liked to go in a better order, Eric, but we kind of have to bow to the whims of the bookstores.

Brandon, on your site it says you'll be doing a signing with Dave Farland and L E Modesitt Jr on the 1th. Do you mean the 1st (Dec) or another date with th?

lol.  Nice catch.  I'll fix that.  It's supposed to say the 17th, this Friday.

EDIT--Uh, now I can't find it.  Sprig, did you fix this already?

Nope, I tend to not touch things like that.

Okay, so what's going on with everyone swapping avatars? Fell's is Ent's, Sprigg's is Fell's, and Ent's is Sprigg's, and who knows what else. I read comments and *think* I know who is talking but then I see that it's not. The swappage is toying with my entire world view. It's driving me batty! Whose crazy idea was this anyhow?

Um... can I play too?

Is it really avatar switch or username switch. Because "Fellfrosch" responded to EUOL asking Sprigg a question.

Any more speculation on who is changing avatars, nicks, or anything else will result in immediate banning.

I'm sorry, but that's just the way it has to be.

I can't participate in any forum that tries to deny my basic right of questing everything Fell does.

Now Skar is Sprig. Or, rather, vice versa.

Ha! I questioned!

Also: you people are weird.

No I meant questing, I adventure out after Fell every night in hoping of slaying the beast that is our editor.

Gaaaah! Don't... know... who is who or who's saying what. You're all schizos! But don't worry. I'll get help (and a whole lotta straight jackets). Everything will be okay soon.

Just go with the flow, Shrain. Even if you did figure it out, they would change names/avatars again and you'd have to re-learn them. Ignore them and they'll grow bored with it eventually, like most boys do with pranks.
Title: Re: Fall Book Tour
Post by: Skar on November 15, 2006, 01:33:32 PM
Sigh.  And now they're even spoofing me.  Sweet little Nessa.  When will the madness end?

You're all freaks.

But then Skar gets to have a chick avatar...maybe I should change it back to the butterfly one I had before, maybe he would like that one better.

Post by: Skar on November 15, 2006, 02:06:54 PM
Hey!  I don't know who you are but there's no need to be insulting.

I would never say something so mean so it's obvious you're not me.  You're not fooling anyone.  You Nessa impostor!

Double? Don't ya mean quintupple or something, you Nessanator! And, for those folks whose sarcasm meters are offline, I'll just say straight out that all this swappage is amusing, albeit in a confusing fashion.

Also, I'd pay to see Skar actually keep a female avatar--of Venus no less. harhar

Is this revenge, Skar, for my forgetting to credit your Halloween costume at the TWG party? Cause that was just a blonde moment. Nothing personal.

I just want to apologize, Skar, for having forgotten to credit your costume at the TWG party.  I realize now that it was terribly gauche and I have been practicing self-flagellation in penance.

Edit: whoops.  I just realized that the fake Nessa already commented on that.  Am I blonde? looks in mirror  Holy Crap!  I am.  Who knew?

You mentioned you were going to be in the Dulles airport on Dec. 23rd. Is this just a fly-by book signing or are you actually stopping? Because if you are, you're more than welcome to come to dinner. We're moving out to Alexandria this Thursday ourselves so we'll miss the tour out here... *sighs*

getting off subject...

YAY FOR ANOTHER VICTIM!
er.. I mean member of TWG-East. Rather than going to dinner, i suggest another guest appearance of EUOL with those who can make it to NoVA (like me) and some kind of dinner out. Perhaps even Five Guys...

Why the crap is EUOL in DC on the 23rd?  Unless he's decided to spend Christmas in NYC, I can't think of a reason.

Because he knows you won't be there, Sprigg. ;)

Oh, and because the ninja monkeys demanded either that or $2 million in unmarked bills.

Don't know why he's going to be there, but he mentions it on his page with the rest of his itinerary. And as for being a victim of TWGE, I have to wonder who's going to be victimized, me or you? ^^

I'll be there because they invited me, and I'll be in town for a couple of days.  (20th through the 23rd, I think.)

So, I propose dinner on the 22nd with TWG East.  Does that work for folks?

EUOL, how are you keeping up with things? I'm going to remind you that you are expected to be in Denver on Saturday.  Your book signing has been advertised in the Denver Post (which is the major newspaper here), so I assume a no show would look bad.

Hey EUOL,

It was cool talking to you, Dave, Leland and Mischa at the Westchester CA Borders last week. You're on the home stretch, and no more lost tire treads. Way to go.

Hope you see The Lost Wiseman's post about Denver, CO on Saturday. (I wonder why it's not on your website itinerary)

I finally wandered into the amphigories last week on the BS website. I'm still smarting over the one Evil Bert made you do. It was one of the most painful puns I've seen in a loooong time. It was a quick pondering, (oh no!) then a long aggrieved groan, followed finally by a pained laugh...ouch.

Am very afraid to see your latest post, hehe.

I will be available (I will make myself available). Jeffe has to work, which is why he told me he couldn't show up on Friday. I'll ask him if Thursday is any better, but I doubt it.

Where shall we meet?

More to the point, where will you be during the day, then I can identify a solid locale for our congregation.

I want to propose Ballston Commons. There's a metro station there, and a place that serves buffalo meat and garlic pickles. It's awesome.

The other two options are my workplace (2 stops away from Ballston) or Pentagon City Mall. Both have metro stops. Both are near sit down places. My work place is walking distance (I have my car here, so we can drive if we need to) from a Barnes and Noble that sits next to Bertucci's and Ben and Jerry's. I have to pick up a book from B&N, and Brandon wants to be hitting stores anyway. Of course, there are also bookstores at both malls I mentioned.

MPease, drop me a line. All my IM information and my email are in my profile to the left of this message. Send me your phone number or just email me and I'll reply with mine. Brandon said he'd call/notify me about a time. He was thinking 7, but if he finishes early he can meet at like 5.

I have shopping to do, and where/when I go depends on where we meet and what time.
