Maybe that 'looney' knows what it's all about
He's got something to say, but he can't get it out.
He's uncoordinated, so we shut him out.

Wear it out (the way a three-year-old would do)
Melt it down (you're gonna have to eventually anyway)

In a dream
You were sitting there waiting by the phone for me
But I never got the opportunity
To experience
The experience once again

I have stood here before
inside the pouring rain
with the world turning circles
running round my brain
I guess I'm always hoping
that you'll end this reign
but it's my destiny
to be the king of pain

In the depth of winter, I finally discovered that within me there lay an invincible summer. -Albert Camus

Brother recollected when he and Tom and Billy Joe
Put a frog down my back at the Caroll County picture show.
And wasnt I talkin' to him after church last Sunday night?
I'll have another piece of apple pie; you know it don't seem right.
Saw him at the sawmill yesterday up on Choctaw Ridge.
And now you tell me Billy Joe has jumped off the Tallahatchee bridge.

(If I thought I could get away with it I'd post the entire song. I consider "Ode to Billy Joe" a masterwork of story-based songs.)

Don't stop, fight the revolution
just know that there's always a solution
fight back, even if it kicks you
but dont break cuz there's no one here to fix you
you say that I am getting crazy

Dirty old river, must you keep rolling
Flowing into the night
People so busy, makes me feel dizzy
Taxi light shines so bright
But I don't need no friends
As long as I gaze on waterloo sunset
I am in paradise

....
Its amazing just how much a perfect sunset, or sunrise can wipe away the stress of everyday life, you just slide into that perfect moment...

Those that know me well know I have a streak of meloncholy just as wide as the Mississippi I was born by running just beneath the surface of my demeanor. I remember standing at a payphone in Roosevelt Roads, Puerto Rico half drunk on my fifth coke spiked with rum, calling a girl I knew I shouldnt, and talking for hours. Smelling the salt air mixed with rotting vegitation outside the base bowling alley. This song sums up how that felt.

New Slang,... The Shins.
New slang when you notice the stripes, the dirt in your fries.
Hope it's right when you die, old and bony.
Dawn breaks like a bull through the hall,
Never should have called
But my head's to the wall and i'm lonely.

The scaffold is high, and eternity nears;
She stands in the crowd and sheds not a tear.
But sometimes at night, when the cold wind moans,
In a long black veil she cries all over my bones.

I've walked these streets
In the mad house asylum, they can be,
Where a wild-eyed misfit prophet
On a traffic island stopped,
And he raved of saving me.

I got soul, but I'm not a soldier.

My shadow's the only one that walks beside me,

Go-cart Mozart was checkin' out the weather chart
to see if it was safe outside,
And little Early-Pearly came by in his curly-wurly
and asked me if I needed a ride.
I got soul, but I'm not a soldier.
