Ok, so, my in-laws video card died recently
and I replaced it with one of my old ones
which got me thinking. I've got four computers (all but one have either RAM or mobo problems) which means 4 video cards right? I can give one up.... and STILL have another for this computer! how cool would that be?

Well, no dice. This is an old computer (the "new" one being the one with mobo problems) which means it can't use the AGP card. And apparently I gave away my only spare PCI vid card. The last computer is an aptiva and, even back in 95 or so, had on-board video. How annoying.

So now I"m trying to find someone not using their spare PCI video card to send it to me.

Anybody?

Sorry, no. My old computer is being used as a Linux box. But if you have a PS/2 mouse you're willing to give up, we'll see what we can find.

actually, my fil said it was too expensive to buy one this old locally. shipping on just the card would only be like 2 bucks. And in exchange I could always send you those M:tG cards you were going to use to build a deck.

All right, what are the specs you need again? This one was an ATI card that came in an 800mhz machine.  Too old, or is that good?

EUOL, that's more than acceptable. I would really love it if you're not using and can send it my way.

Outkast, I tend to be more civilized than portrayals found in "Andy Capp" and similar productions. I actually LIKE my brothers-in-law (and would have tons in common if i had chosen the guitar over my first love of writing). I also have tons of respect for my mil for all the service and self-sacrifice she does. she does have plenty that irks me, but she's a better human in a lot of ways than I think I'll ever be. My fil gets mad props from me as well. He's easy to talk to. I'm not exactly buddies with him, but I got nuthin' 'gainst him. I did this because i had the part, and they needed it, and I didn't think i was going to use it.

Buy what type of slot it plugs into on the motherboard.

PCI is a bit bigger than the AGP slot. If the video card is plugged into a slot that looks different than all the others and the video card slot is smaller, it's AGP. the computer I'm playing with doesn't have an AGP slot, so I need one that will plug into a slot that looks like all the others.
