Look! Look! I finally got my act together and an internet connection to boot and am introducing myself!
Ready?
Okay, I am the female alter-ego of Brandon Sanderson!!!
Not really.:)
Okay, I'm Aprilynne Pike (although I do KNOW Brandon ;)) and I write YA fantasy, specifically, a series about faeries beginning with my debut, WINGS, which was released last month and has spent four weeks on the NYT Bestsellers list so far. (Come on, you know I HAD to throw that part in.;)) I currently live in Phoenix, AZ with my husband and three kids, aged almost 2,4, and 6. My husband just graduated from law school so when we go to parties we tell people, "Hi, we're the Pikes, he's a lawyer, she's an author, which means that one of us makes up fantastic tales for a living and the other one writes books." (Yes, thank you, thank you, I'll be here all night.;))
Hmmm, what else? I am a voracious reader. I read a bit of everything, but since I write YA I do read that genre more often than anything else. I'm quite a gym rat and love singing, especially Broadway music. I'm also a doula and childbirth educator and wear a pendant of a pregnant woman that everyone always thinks is a penguin.
Yeah, that's pretty much me. I just barely moved and released a book all at the same time which is why I've been so absent, but I should be around more now.:)
Thanks for having me!

Welcome, April. I rarely come back here nowadays, but now that you're here maybe I should hang out more often! :)

I'm going to continue to assume you don't exist, as it's much more fun to be posting in a forum where the author doesn't really exist, and i'll just assume you're a figment of my imagination. :P

She has a sense of humor, too! I literally laughed out loud when I read that.

Ha, ha! Great place. You'll have to say hi to my parents. At church. They're the Smyths.

Welcome!!! I love Broadway plays, too.
You like West Side Story? http://www.timewastersguide.com/forum/index.php?topic=6868.msg151172#msg151172
(By the way, the pregnant woman/penguin thing really cracked me up. :D)

What took you to Phoenix?
Boy, that's a long story. My husband and I are both from Phoenix and on top of that, he has been accepted into the PhD of Philosophy program at ASU. However, the Arizona legislature still hasn't decided what the budget for the state schools will be, so ASU doesn't know if they will be able to fund him, and if they don't fund him, he won't attend. But while the AZ govn't was making their decision, we found the perfect house and interest rates were low. So, um, yeah, we moved here.:)

Doula, neat! I have no children of my own yet, but my sister-in-law is very much into the whole "alternative" scene of childbirth. She's done a lot of research on her own, and in fact, just delivered my neice in the relative comfort of her own home. It's all very exciting. :)
When I have money again, I'll be sure to pick up a copy of WINGS. It sounds pretty interesting from what you said on Writing Excuses recently.

Welcome! I enjoyed the pod cast.

You're right; it is. We were going to see it in Spain but the tickets got too expensive. :'(

Not your terrible spelling, though. ;)
