More on Action Figures
« on: June 14, 2005, 09:20:22 AM »
I'm just playing aroud with my most recent acquisitions, waiting for Warmachine to arrive so I can finish building my Galactus, and I'm deciding that I really like this Nightcrawler for one, very simple reason. Each of his toes (there are four total, two on each foot), moves. Independent of the others. It rocks.

I just picked up a few of the Star Wars episode III action figures.  I can't seem to get enough because there is always another that I want.  I loved the movie so much I want all the action figures.  I'm trying to find some Anakin and Darth Vader figures, but the stores are always sold out.

I've been hoping to scrouge up and Anakin that doesn't look like he's lost too much sleep, but not much luck on that front. I was hoping to give my daughter an Anakin and a Padme for her birthday.

Anyway, I'm not a huge fan of the Star Wars action figures (though I still buy them). They don't stand on their own very well and aren't as posable as others. It amazes me that Hasbro makes them like that when they do a better job with the GI Joes.

I'm admiring the coincidence that Spriggy got that action figure on the same day that this thread was started by e.

Sorry, my sleep deprivation made me read jun as jul. So once again Spriggy is not as intuitive as one would think.

I must send my army of ferrets to kill all those who read this thread...and steal their action figures.

the monkeys are prepared to take on anything your ferrets can dish out.

Two weird things
First, apparetnly about 6 months ago Toybiz (the toy company owned by Marvel Comics that until now has only done Marvel themed toys and toys based on Lord of the Rings) acquired the license to produce Curious George toys. I think that's just really weird.

The other thing is also about Toy Biz. Their new line, Figure Factory is miniature assembly pieces. From what I gather, you get a random assortment of pieces and a few cards when you buy a pack. THen you trade around to get a full miniature's worth of pieces. It's like HeroClix that you have to put together, ... and there's no game.

Which makes me think, how worthless. But, on the other hand, at the same time, I think "that's kind of cool." I don't know why.

It doesn't look like the pieces are interchangable. As in you can't take a piece belonging to Spiderman and us it on the Hulk figure. I could be wrong.

I think it would be much cooler if you could exchange parts. Kind of like what I did with my old action figures as a kid, but make it easier. And them have stories explaining why Wolverine suddenly has the Thing's arms...or something.

Yeah, that's the impression i got. I think they're trying to get kids interested and trading but still hold on to adult collectors
I don't have anyone to trade with, so they won't suck me in.

I want my own action-figure workshop.

I just need clay, clayworking tools, paint, plaster, and the right resin.

And time and space.
