I guess I'm pretty active. I run 5 miles a day, play outside with my 3 year old son and the kids in my neighborhood etc. but that only balances out sitting in front of a computer screen coding all day long.  ;)

I didn't see this anywhere else so I thought I would add it to this thread since Jacket Tag is mentioned. Taken from the Amazon site.

Who is the Hero of Ages?

To end the Final Empire and restore freedom, Vin killed the Lord Ruler. But as a result, the Deepness---the lethal form of the ubiquitous mists---is back, along with increasingly heavy ashfalls and ever more powerful earthquakes. Humanity appears to be doomed.

Having escaped death at the climax of The Well of Ascension only by becoming a Mistborn himself, Emperor Elend Venture hopes to find clues left behind by the Lord Ruler that will allow him to save the world. Vin is consumed with guilt at having been tricked into releasing the mystic force known as Ruin from the Well. Ruin wants to end the world, and its near omniscience and ability to warp reality make stopping it seem impossible. She can’t even discuss it with Elend lest Ruin learn their plans!

The conclusion of the Mistborn trilogy fulfills all the promise of the first two books. Revelations abound, connections rooted in early chapters of the series click into place, and surprises, as satisfying as they are stunning, blossom like fireworks to dazzle and delight. It all leads up to a finale unmatched for originality and audacity that will leave readers rubbing their eyes in wonder, as if awaking from an amazing dream.

Thanks for the info, I'm gonna have to go pick up the paperback so I can read the rest.

However, I don't want to come back only to see a bunch of theories that the Lord Ruler was actually a good guy to start his rule but by flaring his metals for so long he snapped and began neutering his own race.....

That's awesome - I'm going to add one to my desktop too!

What are you doing online on a server though!  lol

I was doing some system maintenance and couldn't help but visit timewastersguide in the downtimes.

I really liked Lightsong; his progression as a character was the best of the book imo. If I were the one writing the book, I might have given him a different name but other than that everything else would be the same.

I have mixed feelings about Warbreaker. There were some things I really liked about the book and others that still have me scratching my head.

Spoiler partially hidden for those that haven't read.
I mean, Vasher spends all that time investigating the secret entrance and then just takes the window instead? And what's with the whole Susebron as James Bond bit? "Take him below to kill later when I won't be watching. Oh and put him within arms reach of the one person that can ruin all our plans."

I'm curious to see who's going to play Alcatraz Smedry.

Yeah, I wasn't disagreeing with Reaves. Merely pointing out that advancement of civilization plays a big part in it too. Recent changes in marriage laws in the US came about mostly because of statistics showing that women getting married earlier had a tendency to forego education and got divorced sooner (leading to other issues). Life expectancy played a minor role in these decisions, whereas welfare concerns played a bigger part.

well all the people seem to have very short life-spans....Vin is getting married at, what, 16? and no one seems to think that is strange...

It's hard to get a era judging by the books, but getting married at 16 was pretty common until recent history. It is still legal to get married at 15 in Hawaii  and a few other select states with parental consent. In Roman times, 12 years old wasn't an uncommon age. So no, I didn't find Vin getting married at 16+ strange, factoring in the era via technology.

How did you manage that?  I've looked and looked, but I can't find any way to make something like that.

There's a bunch out there, I don't remember which one I am using (I'm at a server computer right now, lol) but with just a quick search I found http://www.timeleft.info/

It has a customizable free version. You'll have to read up on it more though just to make sure it's not adware, etc.

I just want to know if people with tongue rings are worried about acid eating away their hemalurgic abilities.

Welcome to the board. I understand about counting down; I have a big countdown clock  displayed as my background.

If I recall correctly, saliva is just slightly acidic, but not enough to make much difference in the digestion process. That is done mostly by the enzymes that VegasDev was talking about.

I was just joking, I'm a programmer not a scientist although I did stay at a Holiday Inn last night. Back in the day I did play alot of bar trivia and I seem to recall that saliva is more of an alkaline base, which is essentially the opposite of an acid.

I can't put my finger on why, but for some reason Scribbler was my favorite book. Not by a large margin, because I love them all, but it just has something that pushes it over the top in my opinion.

Edit: That means I voted for Other, lol.
