I finally acquired a copy of Jimmy Eat World's self titled (formerly "Bleed American"). I don't think there's a single song on this disc that I didn't already have on mp3. However, there's also not a single song that I wouldn't love with all of my body if it were physically manifested in front of me. It makes me want to up and groove in my office in front of all my coworkers. This is quite possibly the 2nd best CD purchase I have EVER made.

I'm glad you like that CD so much Saint.  That even raises my opinion of your musical taste.

I'm listening to Remy Shand, who is the smoothest white musician to ever hit the Motown label.

see, you already knew I had good taste. I introduced you to the Young Fresh Fellows (via Kije's CDs, though) and I don't remember introducing you to Remy Shand, but I've  been listending to him for a while. Then there were those Jazz CDs delivered to your dorm for me. :)

Ok, I'll stop talking about myself. I'm just happy that someone appreciates what I appreciate.

Actually I stumbled upon Remy Shand myself.

I've spent most of the day listening to The Donnas' "Too Bad About Your Girl".  'Cause it's stuck in my head.  And it's catchy.

In the second post of this years-spanning thread I mentioned I was listening to Dylan's Blonde on Blonde and that it was one of the greatest albums ever.

Two years later, it has made it back into frequent rotation and I can't come up with a good reason I ever quit listening to it.

Sure, some people can't stand the way he sings, but it's lyrical genius.  The man can paint pictures with words an conjure images that one would never think to juxtapose.  If you buy one Dylan album, this is the one.

Sheer musical genius.

We must be seperated as I am a GIGANTIC Who fan.

Between the five or so normal albums and their 30 years of maximum R&B boxed set, they probably take up more space on my iPod than any other one band.

Holy cow!  And a Pixies fan too.

This is getting weird.

well you already like the same games I do... so...

Ahh the soothing tones of Morphine....

"The Night" is possibly the coolest song ever,... and most rock bands cant include wierd instruments and make it work...
It a good make out song too...

Too bad the lead singer OD'd

Morphine - The Night Lyrics
you're the night, Lilah
a little girl lost in the woods
you're a folktale
the unexplainable
you're a bedtime story
the one that keeps the curtains closed
I hope you're waiting for me
cause I can't make it on my own
I can't make it on my own

it's too dark to see the landmarks
and I don't want your good luck charms
I hope you're waiting for me
across your carpet of stars
you're the night, Lilah
you're everything that we can't see
Lilah
you're the possibility

you're the bedtime story
the one that keeps the curtains closed
and I hope you're waiting for me
cause I can't make it on my own
I can't make it on my own

sweet-ass sax solo

unknown the unlit world of old
you're the sounds I've never heard before
off the map where the wild things grow
another world outside my door
here I stand I'm all alone
driving down the pitch black road
Lilah you're my only home
and I can't make it on my own

you're a bedtime story
the one that keeps the curtains closed
I hope you're waiting for me
cause I can't make it on my own
I can't make it on my own

see, the problem here is that I couldn't fit all my music on a single iPod. I have over 400 CDs, around 200 or so albums on vinyl (plus the 45s), and 200 tapes. Then there's my songs I have only on mp3. Right now I have around 2 weeks worth of music on mp3 if I just played it straight through without stopping.

I used to love the Who. Not so much anymore. Though several of their songs consitently make it onto my playlist. I likewise became disenchanted with the Pixies. Not sure why. Maybe if I started listening again I'd be happier with them.

Dylan, on the other hand, is a musical genius. I have several of his. I'm not sure I agree Blonde on Blonde is the best, Hwy 61 Revisited has some very strong points, and my Indy nature keeps pulling me back to Desire for a great listen.

Morphine, I have everything by in at least one medium. Sheer brilliance. I cried (real tears and everything) when the singer died.

I did too... such an amazing amazing sound... and now that he died, we know where it came from...
I guess he found a cure for his pain.
