Thesis Defense
« on: July 27, 2004, 12:33:18 PM »
Well, I'm off to defend my Master's Thesis.  Wish me luck.  (It shouldn't be too hard, what with my thesis being a published novel and all....)

Your complacency will be your downfall.

Maybe, it being BYU, they'll take the book-written-by-LDS-authors approach, and say that it's "supposed to edify as well as entertain."  And then they'll flunk you because you didn't include a moral.

Good luck! Have fun! :)  Who's on your committee again? Other than Sally, I mean.

Ah.  Well, that's good to have out of the way.  Now I just have one more semester of coursework....

Yes, I passed.  The committee was Taylor, Perry, and Bennion.

Good job that man, good job.
If you're ever in an argument and Entropy winds up looking staid and temperate in comparison, it might be time to cut your losses and start a new thread about something else :)

lol.  In an interesting twist, Dr. Perry (who was on my thesis committee) emailed me today and told me he wanted to use ELANTRIS as a textbook in the BYU sf lit class.  It would be replacing RUNELORDS....  (Hope Dave doesn't hear about this.)

What makes that more disturbing, EUOL, is that two nights ago I had a dream that I was taking a literature class at BYU from you and one of the texts was Elantris.

it would be kinda hard for it to be used as a textbook before it gets published...

Wasn't your thesis on WoK anyway? Yet he wants to use Elantris? (I almost typed Atlantis, there...)

No, it was ELANTRIS.  It was going to be WoK until I published ELANTIRS--then things changed.  I figured I was going to be going through the editing process for ELANTRIS anyway, so I might as well focus all of my energies on it.

Speaking of your published works, EVOL, where and when can, or will, we be able to get a copy?  I have not had the chance to read your book yet, and am interested in doing so.

Congrats on the defense!
