Yar!  iPod Woes
« on: February 05, 2005, 12:53:49 PM »
Well, my will finally broke. I did it. I splurged and got an iPod. I justify it as a reward for passing Boards. That's how I keep from feeling bad about spending my extremely fixed income.

I've been wanting one for over a year. Now I have one.

And, of course, it can't just work right out of the box. I've spent quite a bit of time researching and it looks like picking up a Firewire card will fix the problems I'm having. Sigh.

So I've ordered an Adeptec 3400 Firewire card from Best Buy that I'm going to pick up later today.   I just hope it works

I've been downloading my entire music collection into my computer.  As soon as I get this thing up and running I'll have access to my entire musical collection anywhere I go at the touch of a button.

Yeah firewire is the way to go...

Since APL builds all its computers with firewire they forget that people w/o need to get it.

And hey now that you have firewire you can get some cool accesories...

Pleasington, they are so worth it. I have had mine for several months now, and I have no real complaints. I would highly recommend that you get a case for it, they are only like $10 as I recall, and you really need one if you are going to carry it around with you.

Got the firewire and got around my connection problems.

Then I had software problems that were frustrating the heck out of me.

Then it worked.

And then I was a happy, happy man.

You didn't get the USB2 version iPod?

I like Firewire myself, as a mac user, but...I don't have an iPod...

We had to buy a firewire for my sister about a year ago, he has a SONY digital camcorder and USB2 couldn't transfer the files fast enough (it was all choppy on the pc).  I have no idea why the camera and it's softwere couldn't just save the whole movie to the HD, but anyway Firewire is a lot nicer the USB2.
Screw it, I'm buying crayons and paper. I can imagineer my own adventures! Wheeee!

All recent iPods are made for both USB2 and Firewire.  USB2 doesn't always work very well though, as I found.  This firewire rules!

At this very moment every song on every CD I have ever owned is available to me, anywhere I go, at the touch of a button.

This is so cool.

If you're ever in an argument and Entropy winds up looking staid and temperate in comparison, it might be time to cut your losses and start a new thread about something else :)
