Cool Stuff Found on the Internet, again
« on: February 01, 2006, 01:29:34 AM »
Hey I get to start the thread, with the Forbes Fictional Fifteen!

http://www.forbes.com/2002/09/13/400fictional.html

I didn' t know Forbes had a list of the richest fictional characters, until my husband started researching the biography of Scrooge McDuck. (Don't ask.)

Man, I hate it when that happens! Too bad you can't copyright ideas!

Condolences aside, though, those videos are super hilarious. I love the slime monsters with spanish accents. lol. Oh, and the mega dehydrater rocks.

The Lego Suicides.  Safe for work, but potentially triggering to anyone who may have dealt with suicide personally. I seriously doubt anyone will be offended by this, but you know, just in case....

This is a great site. It designs personal music stations populated by all kinds of artists based on a favorite song or artist. It's also free.

The guys at Top Gear (uk car show) decide to try smashing the hell out of a old Toyota pickup to see if they can kill it. Funny as hell.
If you're ever in an argument and Entropy winds up looking staid and temperate in comparison, it might be time to cut your losses and start a new thread about something else :)

Frankly, I'm shocked. But, even more frankly, I'm always shocked.

This might technically belong in webcomics, but it has wide appeal and I wanted to make sure everyone saw it.

On the Dinosaur Comics message boards, people started taking Garfield comics and removing all of Garfield's dialogue. The change is amazing--what used to be a junk comic about a smart-aleck cat is suddenly a hilarious, minimalist comic about a pathetic man. I can't stop laughing at these:

I haven't read thru all that legal stuff on that page. BUT, from my understanding, you can't copyright ideas per se, but the expression of those ideas. So you can copyright the a novel but you can't really copyright the plot-line. Now, TM is a whole different subject, and I don't wanna get into that. Still, the essense of copyright protection is what you produce from an idea, not the idea itself.

Guys--help me out?

I meant not to have that discussion again BUT to help me find that thread. I don't remember what it was called. I'll try searching just "Copyright" or something, though... Sheesh.  :P

Edit: I should've been more specific, though. Oops.

I'd just like to point out that Fell's last post about the minimalist Garfield comic is awesome, and is much more deserving of idle prattle than some legal crap.
