House Cooling Party
« on: January 16, 2004, 04:59:47 PM »
...which is what you should have, logically, when moving out of a house.

My particular house cooling will take place on Saturday the 31st, so I'd like to do a party on the previous Saturday, being the 24th. That morning is also the Darksteel prerelease, but being poor I will not be attending. I'm thinking that we could all get together in the evening, probably at the Cottontree, and play games--specifically LotR, because Decipher sent me a hojillion cards for it, but I'm sure no one would mind if we did other things as well. I can support 12 LotR drafters and 12 LotR sealed decks, or some unholy combination thereof, and we could have bring-and-play games of Magic and demos of Heroclix and all sorts of whatnot. Anyone who can make it to Provo is welcome to come, and if you dress like a smurf you get in for half price. Who's interested?

For those of you on the east coast wanting to attend this party, fares from Boston to Salt Lake yesterday were $134.

Can you get flights from SLC to Chicago for that price?

The only time I found a fare that low was when I pricelined it. Plus, flying from Boston to Chicago (what I'd look for right now, to go visit my family) is usually never less than $200. So it's $70 less to go 2000 miles more.  ???

Don't forget to factor in the airport fees. Each airport has a certain fee for airplanes that fly in. SLC might just be cheaper to fly into.

I'd love to go if someone is willing to play a board game.

The funny thing about your board game request, MoD, is that the Lord of the Rings card game Fell wants to play practically is one. You might want to take a look at it. I understand the sentiment, though. If need be, I'd be up for 3-4 ages of History of the World or maybe something else.

Not that I won't be wanting to show off my new MTG cards, too. Going to a tournament just prior is kind of distracting.

please make sure to announce this party at TLE--I'm about to head over to quark and post it there. Decipher sent me a hefty dose of LotR stuff and I want to make sure we have the people to make use of it.

Also, i'd like to announce that thanks to the kindness of Spriggan I will, in fact, be going to the Prerelease. Which means that Prometheus and I need to start gleaning the spoilers for hints and tricks to watch out for.
