Cons in Europe/UK

I'd like to have your collective advice in choosing a con for me to attend.

I'm looking for something in Europe, preferably in the UK, where I might meet SF/F agents and editors, so I can get to know them and maybe pitch my book around.

Everything is on the table here, even the London Book Fair, if you think it's appropriate (well, London Book Fair is maybe too big and impersonal for my needs).

Thoughts anyone?

i didnīt attend one yet but i plan to ;-)

the first two which come to my mind are
the sci-fi con in london http://www.sci-fi-london.com/ and
the leipziger buchmesse in germany http://www.leipziger-messe.de/LeMMon/buch_web_eng.nsf  (a book fair for all kinds of genre and itīs international)

or the one in frankfurt but i donīt know much about this one http://www.buchmesse.de/en/fbf/

how would you approach this?  go to the publishing houses booth? has anyone experience with this?

How did I miss this reply?

I ended up going to Eurocon in Stockholm. It was very fun and instructive on some aspects (I learned a lot about e-publishing from listening Charlie Stross), but it failed miserably on the business side.

In retrospect, with my goal to get to know editors and agents, I should have gone to Eastercon.

Maybe I'll do that next year, unless I decide to cross the ocean and go to Worldcon in Chicago.

For the process, I think the main strategy is to get a feel of the editors and agents out there, so I can select best where I'll submit. In that case, personally meeting them at their booths isn't the main goal, as you don't know yet if you'll ever submit to them.

At any rate, it's a long and involved process...

Interesting stuff, definitely is a long process.

Let me know if you do decide to come to Chicago.  After having to sit out both Worldcon and World Fantasy this year, I've decided I'm going to Worldcon next year.  World Fantasy has more on the business end, but I don't feel like going to Toronto.
