Anyone have questions for Brandon?
« on: December 19, 2009, 08:04:20 AM »

I'm going to be at the signing in Idaho Falls tomorrow.  I can't stay for after due to the fact that I have to work, but I can try and squeeze in a few questions.

First, tell him I say thanks for posting Defending Elysium, and second, ask him if he has plans of doing anything else with it.  It was BRILLIANT and has such an open ending...

Yeah, they should be there within about five minutes or so.

"Does anyone have questions for Brandon".What a silly question ;) They'll be RAFO'd, but that's okay!

1. You (Brandon) said there were four Shards we have seen on the worlds which are not Ruin and Preservation. Two, you said, we had directly interacted with. The other two were less specific. My question, does Hoid count for one of these four Shards?

2. In a recent Mistborn 3 annotation you said that lerasium's Mistborn-granting power was a side effect, then you said it, if a Mistborn burned it, the metal would have a different effect. My theory is that, as atium has a mental and temporal component, that lerasium has a physical and enhancement elements which could essentialy offset atium's abilities. What is lerasium's Allomantic power?

3. Does atium have a similar side effect as lerasium?

4. What is the name of the Shard related to the pool in Elantris? (You did, after all, tell us that the Voice was named Endowment)

5. Are there such things as Feruchemical savants?

6. This is more of a, um, petition. In the days prior to Hero of Ages, we theorizers spent a lot of time wondering about Hemalurgy. Well, I came up with the term that a metal is Hemalurgically "imbued" with power. I would like to request that "imbue" become a more official term, as it distinguishes a Hemalurgic metal from a Feruchemically "charged" metal.

It's now one, so miyabi may have left, but I'm planning on going over a little later. You guys can continue to post questions until about three, if you are so inclined, and I'll ask them.

The answers to these questions that I was able to get while running through line (I couldn't stay for the QnA for work.  Darn it, I would have liked to have met you Andrew.  Maybe next time.)

1.  Hoid is not a Shar. . . BUT . . . . wait for another topic I'll post in a few minutes. ;]

2.  If a Mistbron burned Lerasium, their power would become doubled.

Andrew if you're still here, make sure to ask him what a Lerasium/Atium alloy would do.

:o Holy cow!  Oh, for the duration of the burn, or permanently?  When I first read it, I thought permanently, but now I think just for the burn duration is probably accurate.  Hmm...Lerasium Duralumin Steel Jumping would be insane!

Miyabi explained it to me that the doubling due to lerasium is permanent.

At least that's the way EUOL made it sound.

That's the way that would make the most sense, in my opinion.  Lerasium is permanent in the first dose, so why wouldn't the boost in the second be permanent?  If not, you just got duralumin version 2.
You can think without acting and you can act without thinking... but which is worse?

Then how is it a side effect? I was expecting something WAY different like a specific ability....
