I mean, seriously, a monopoly movie?

The only way I could ever see something like this being good is if Rodney Dangerfield were to play Rich Uncle Pennybags or something, but that's impossible, since he's ya know, dead.

Monopoly movie = Bad idea

Theres actually quite a few movies based off of board games, action figures, and the like unfortunately. A couple I heard that are in the works are Battleship, Barbie, Max Steel, Major Matt Mason, Hot Wheels, Wheres Waldo, Ouija Board, Candy Land, and Stretch Armstrong. Yah Hollywood! An original idea someone? Anyone? Nope.

I... I would not want to write the screenplay on this one. Seriously, Monopoly?

[Gosh], clue was awesome! Anybody else a fan? Perhaps similar things can be done with monopoly?

Right, but, ya see, Clue had a workable story behind it. Murder mystery. Generic in and of itself, but they got Tim Curry in on it, so it was all good.

Monopoly, however, it about trading real estate. That is not an easy subject to turn into a good movie.

I honestly hope they go completely off the wall with it. Action-comedy. Starring Arnold Schwarzenegger as rich uncle penny bags, Rick Moranis as the shoe, and Tom cruise as the thimble, etc.

The only problem with your cast is that neither Arnold nor Rick are available, and Tom is surely too cool to sully his name with such a project.

Duane "The Rock" Johnson, on the other hand...

There's got to be a lot of drama in Monopoly if you humanize it. Fat cats getting fatter at the expense of the little man, and all that. People might even wind up in jail! Gripping, I tell you.

Hasbro optioned almost all of their Board Game properties into movies. It is a good idea for them, and as long as the budget is workable, who cares? not every movie has to be a major blockbuster costing a billion dollars.
After all, some of the best movies ever were done on shoestring budgets with re-hashed ideas. District 19 is about the most recent (Alien Nation-escue), and going back some: 28 Days Later, Land of the Dead, Halloween to name a few (granted, they were all sci-fi or horror).

He has the option to make The Forever War by Joe Haldeman (all time classic sci-fi book. GREAT BOOK). Haldeman wrote on his website that he hopes that Avatar will finally get him to make this movie.

Ridley Scott also produced a miniseries of The Pillars of the Earth. I don't know when it will be on or what channel. This is one of my favorite books. It takes places in the middle ages in England and revolves around building a cathedral. It is alot more than that. It is a truly great book. If you like fantasy you should like this book even though it is not fantasy.

Battleship could be cool.

I could see a very nice Ender's Game feel happening there.

I am surpised that Enders Game has not been made yet. I don't think the special effects require will be a problem. It is also the kind of movie that would appeal to kids and that is always a large audience.

Finding the right kids to play in this movie would be REALLY tough.

The kid from Where The Wild Things Are would be great for that one kid that really hated Ender.  I don't remember what his name was. ha ha.  Heck, he could probably do a good job playing Ender too.

If Elijah Wood was still a child actor, I think he would have made a great ender. Unfortunately, it's about 20 years too late to cast him for it.

I want to see Ridley Scott make The Forever War by Joe Haldeman. He has held the option for a while. That is a GREAT Science Fiction book.

Ender's Game hasn't been made a movie because Orson Scott Card keeps rejecting manuscripts.  He doesn't like the alterations Hollywood wants to make, specifically, the change in age.  The proposals he's received want the kids to be older.
