What is the best and/or worst recent book you've read?
« on: August 15, 2009, 03:56:22 AM »
I read a ton while I was in school, then got distracted by music for many years. I find recently that my passion for reading has returned and that both good and bad books help with your writing. With that in mind:

What is the best and/or worst books you've read that are relatively new releases (within the past couple of years)?

Thanks for the reply. I'm new to the forum, so I haven't quite figured out where everything is yet.

Now, an answer your question, Winterbirth was dreadful, while Best Served Cold was full of awesome.

I just finished a book called "In the Serpets Coils" and it wasn't badly written but just was a bad book in plot and charaters. I wonder now why I even finished.
Nature's first green is gold
Her hardest hue to hold. Her early leaf's a flower;
But only so an hour. Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief, So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.

Stoneheart . . . was odd. The plot was interesting, but the writing (and grammar) were so awful it was nearly painful. I didn't bother with the sequels.

The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant, the Unbeliever.

I know a lot of people like them, but I thought they just stunk. To be honest, I never finished even the first book. I think I read 90% of it then gave up, tired of shedding tears of boredom.

They're on my list, but I've been absorbing all of the Dresden books lately.
