Warbreaker commentary
« on: June 10, 2009, 12:55:36 AM »
I wrote a non-spoiler commentary (its not really a review) about Warbreaker on my blog.  If anyone is interested here's the link.

That's a great commentary on both the book and you. :) I enjoyed it.

Great commentary!  I think you touched on many important points about Brandon's work in general.  Let's hope you turn a few more people in Sanderson fans.  ;D

Quote
Oscar Wilde's dialogue with the action of the Bourne Identity.

That line is brilliant, and I completely agree.  This is probably why I like Mistborn and Warbreaker so much.  (I actually like Warbreaker more...)  I'm so happy that Brandon has mentioned that he will be doing more Warbreaker books.  The world is just very interesting, and I love the magic system.  There's things that you can recognize from the Sci Fi/Fant genre within this book, but they're all twisted and turned into something that is completely Sanderson.  (I love the twist on pseudo-necromancy in this book.)

The line I quoted above is also a little funny due to the fact that I get similar comments on my work in workshops.  What stops a reader from busting a grin in the middle of a fight scene?!  C'mon!

Thanks.  My sister, who hates science fiction of any sort, and whose post started mine, has said she might try Warbreaker now. I hope she follows through. If I can convert her, I can get anyone.

I agree with you entirely, readerMom, on virtually every point you make there. That's why I like Brandon's works, and speculative fiction in general.

Speaking of Commentary, does anyone know if we're getting Warbreaker Annotations?

Ookla would know.

I know Brandon posted a part of the Warbreaker annotations some time ago because he said "you won't see these for a long time". I presume that means we shall get them eventually.
