West Side Story: Sharks vs. Jets

Soo…West Side Story is a pretty famous musical (and also my favorite!). For those of you who have watched it, listened to it, read it (?), or otherwise heard about it: which would you rather be, a Shark or a Jet?

Personally, I'd rather be a Jet. My reasons are kind of pathetic and shallow, but…I just think it'd be more fun.

Definitely the Jets, they had the best parts, such as the songs "Officer Krumpkey" (sp?) and "Stay Cool". Two of the best songs in a movie.  I love West Side Story, but mostly because I love to make fun of it. So full of cheesy goodness, and gang fighting is shown by guys doing ballet and pretending to hit each other, and snapping in sync is very cool.
Very awesome movie.(Haven't seen the play live though)

Heh.  Being a girl, I'd have to pick Anita, sooo the Sharks, I guess.  She's the strongest female of the group, plus I love "A-me-RI-ca!."  That said, this musical never fails to leave me in tears at the end- even though I know it's coming, even though I've seen it a dozen times.  So I usually only watch the whole thing when I want to cry.  But I love the music!

Yeah, the music is awesome. I agree with Hammy. 'Officer Krupke' always cracks me up, 'Cool' is sung really well (good lyrics, too) ( :P), and the Jets' song is so macho you just gotta love it.
