Inspiration for Vin?
« on: June 02, 2009, 03:45:29 AM »
Hi Brandon:

Where/who was the inspiration behind Vin? My professor says that he recommended your books to me because Vin reminded him a lot of me, and so I was curious...

Best, Ellie

Um, JLVin, Brandon doesn't really come on here allot because of his hard work as an author. His last visit was like last year and with WoT and WAY OF KINGS going he has allot of work to do. Maybe you would get a better (and quicker) response is you emiled him.  ;)
Nature's first green is gold
Her hardest hue to hold. Her early leaf's a flower;
But only so an hour. Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief, So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.

The basic answer though is that there was not any person who inspired Vin. If you read through the annotations on the website you can see where he got various ideas for aspects of the characters. Very few of them are based on actual people.
All Saiyuki fans should check out Dazzle! Emotionally wrenching action-adventure and quirky humor! (At least read chapter 6 and tell me if you're not hooked.) Volume 10 out now!
