Ookla, by big picture comments do you mean comments on story flow, continuity, cohesion, and character development?

Ookla don't get me wrong I am definitely aware of this fact however at the time I wrote the comment I was very tired and they were the first things that popped into my head plus I was to lazy to write the rest which is why I added the etc.  Also I was trying to point out that I don't have a problem with that sort of thing and can still enjoy a book despite that.
In a world gone mad escape into fantasy.

So, how does one become an Alpha reader? Not necessarily an Alpha reader for Brandon, though that would be fun. Is it best to become part of a writing group? Or is it possible to not be a writer and still be an Alpha? Thanks for your insight.

Quite simply, know an author, and you might get asked. Being an alpha reader is a personal favor you'd typically only ask of a friend that you know you can trust..

It sounds easy but it sounds hard at the same time.   :-\
Nature's first green is gold
Her hardest hue to hold. Her early leaf's a flower;
But only so an hour. Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief, So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.

Thanks for the information Ryos. I guess that, in a sense, I am an Alpha reader for my brother, who is an aspiring novelist. Hopefully he trusts me.  :P

Am i the only one that is happy people do that job so i don't have to? being an alpha reader and doing Ookla's job sounds like...well...too much work. I would rather write the book if i have to put that much energy into one

Critting a book takes time, but is way less time- and energy-intensive than actually writing one.

First I've heard about it...
All Saiyuki fans should check out Dazzle! Emotionally wrenching action-adventure and quirky humor! (At least read chapter 6 and tell me if you're not hooked.) Volume 10 out now!

No, I wasn't a moderator before. I turned it down once because I thought it would make my hinting seem meaner, but it makes more sense now. I'm guessing it's Tage's doing.

Your hinting?
