20,000 * 2 / 3 = 13,333

I know you don't like math, but c'mon. ;)

... you weren't expecting me to put actual effort into that, were you?

Besides, that was mostly a rhetorical question. My little way of saying, "that's a really long outline."

PS: To the eight critiques that are sitting unread in my inbox right now: Sorry. Hoping to get to them this upcoming weekend. Maybe. :/

That depends. Does pushing 9 keys on a calculator count as "effort"?

Also, strike one up for Internet tone deafness. I actually thought it was a serious question.

Yes, actually :P

Sorry, I'm in "don't want to" mode right now. Doing about anything counts as effort. ::)

My little way of saying, "that's a really long outline."

If I remember correctly, you actually said that already.

Edith adds:  Of course you do, Flo!

That's quite the outline, Flo.

Pfft. Please. You're talking to someone who can barely remember what day of the week it is. You don't expect me to remember something I said all the way back in June, do you?

Got some excellent writing done on chapter two of Rebirth today, and I got the best description of this one form of magic I've ever created this far. Wonderful :)

Let me rephrase: this one technique in my magic system I have, I wrote a lot about it in this chapter, and I came up with a very simple explanation for how it works.

Sorry I haven't critiqued anyone yet.  I had my parents up for a visit this past weekend, and I'm not on top of my critical game at the moment.  Expect some feedback from me around this weekend.

Also been working on a short story I hope to have at least a completed first draft of before November (because that's when NaNo starts, and I'm fairly sure I'm going to use all my daily allotment of creativity on that).

OK I'll send mine this next Monday, I've got so many to read this time that on top of 1700 words per day for Nanowrimo I'm a bit strapped for time and I don't want to make it worse this week.

So last night I was thinking what happened in my next Medora chapter. Turns out I got at least four scenes out of there. And just now, I looked at my outline, and we're going to be quickly propelled out of part one (and half of Act 1).

Just because I'm ridiculously behind on NaNoWriMo doesn't mean anything...

The point is, I'm very excited to get past Chapter Five, which is where I could never get past on my first book.

Just finished another chapter, and this one's a bear (both in terms of size and in terms of how great it was to write). Overall, though, I'm really happy how it came out. It's definitely not perfect, but I think it sets up the new PoV quite nicely.

That, and I knocked another 2,000 words out of my NaNoWriMo deficit. Only 12,000 behind now (I wrote 4k today, but only 2k count toward the deficit)!

So, I keep kicking around an idea for a novel set in the world (and involving the characters) of my Sep. 28 submission, "Dalrymple, the King, and the Future". At this point I have a vague idea of a plot, a decent stock of characters, and a magic system that uses a simple idea (that some people can alter the strength and/or operation of some of the basic physical forces that govern "the Universe") to allow me to create characters that look an awful lot like superheroes, all set in a Victorian Europe-esqe setting. For some reason, I'm fascinated by the idea of putting superheroes in a world with an 18th-century level of technology.

The trouble is, I really do not want to attempt to write a novel right now, but my brain refuses to let it go. One of these days, I'm just going to start writing, and that little voice that whispers that a project this large is simply beyond the amount of time I can give to it right now (not to mention the fact that I've never attempted anything of the sort before) can just go hang. :\

Anyway, let this post serve as fair warning. Mad Schemes™ are a'brewin', and I plan to subject you to them all!

Well, don't write it, just outline it.  At least, make sure your brain is convinced that's all you're doing :)
