At 2463 on the short story now. Starting to hope it stays a short story. I've already got one novelette I don't know what to do with. *rolls eyes*

Well, if it makes anyone feel better a friend of mine deployed in the Middle East was in town on leave this weekend.  Much Alcohol = no progress on the piece.

I have words! On a page! And they're actually part of the story! Only 3200 or so of them, but you have to start somewhere, after all.

Next landmark: making the story longer than the outline. Only 10k to go...

That's quite the outline, Flo.

Baby steps are good.

4667 on the cryocano short story. Which I think has evolved from "might be a novelette" to "will be a novelette".

I'm new to the group (so HI everyone) and I just started working on a new novel. I've gotten offtrack on several of my other projects; I was just to frustrated with them so I've set them aside for awhile. Since I just started a new work it's barely starting to get some notes to flesh it out. I'm currently trying to decide if I want to write a full outline / chapter by chapter summary  or just outline and summarize a few chapters at a time and then do the actual writing for them. I keep tossing the pros/ cons of each style back and forth but haven't made a decision yet.

Haha. True enough.

Unfortunately, selling is the other half. And the market for these guys is a little ... limited. :P

Well I've tried writing with significantly shorter outlines in the past (and none at all), but that just didn't work out. I have to know exactly where I'm going and how I'm going to get there, apparently. Which is quite surprising, because when I started out writing, I was convinced that outlines took all the fun out of it. Silly past-me.

Now if only I could churn out as many words per day as you do...

Haha. Actually, it was only (erm, "only") 25k... and I haven't b een able to do it since. Closest I've come in the six months since then is 11k in a day. ::)

Also, 5070 on the cryocano story so far.

No ending in sight.

Argh.

If it makes you feel any better, Silk, you might find after you've finished that, now that you've done all that explaining and stuff, you can go back and do some of it with fewer words, or with hints instead of actual out-right description.  *shrugs*  Just my two cents, and hope they help!

Heh. Thanks.

Perhaps also cut all the wandering, rambling, useless stuff and replace it with something that actually means something.

*headdesk*

6183 words and not a clue how, or when, it ends.

::)
