If "Tongawaiian" uses the same phonetics as plain old Earth Tongan, then the first 'a' should be pronounced like "ah" (as in "dog"). I think it rolls off the tongue much better that way. Also, the last 'i' should be an 'ee' like the rest of them.

I also think the name is beautiful, and find the song of cicadas quite soothing. However, that may just be because I associate that racket with the beauty and peace of nature at dusk.

On a completely unrelated tangent, if I ever have a daughter I want to name her "Luciernega." It means "Firefly" in Spanish (or, at least, colloquial Nicaraguan), I think it's a beautiful word, and she could even go by "Lucy" to avoid getting teased.

I doubt my future wife would ever let me do such a thing. :(

Also, the footnote is funny because it's true.

Ah -- thanks! Lisa I expected would be lee-sa (not Lie-sa, although I guess some people might expect that). Tah-g? Like Dah-g Hammersjkold (sp?) of old?

So it really would fit into the song. And they called the A.I. tah-g-ee-oh-ah-lee-sah...

I wonder if we can talk Howard into doing a short podcast teaching us all how to pronounce it?

I imagine it'd be an awfully short podcast.

Short, but perhaps useful. Ringtone!

Drat. My apologies. I just went and checked, and the spelling is Tagioalisi. I could have sworn that I checked that before, but...

Tah-gee-oh-ah-lee-see? I've been in Japan for long enough, I don't think I do accents anymore.

Tag is ol' alias? No, no...
