Ugh. I will never get French. (I take Spanish. Much easier.  :P)

[And Latin, which is sometimes ridiculous how varying in difficulty certain parts of it can be.]

Me, too. I find the class of Spanish boring 'cause it's really basic but I enjoy the language itself. And my Latin teacher is great, so…that's cool.

50K isn't that much when compared to the 600K of a Jordan novel. :P

Is it about a fifth? Six chapters or so?

Ten million dollars isn't much when compared to the billions that the USA is in debt.

Shaggy:  Hey, French is, like, great.  And because I know French, Spanish is, like, a piece of cake, dude.

Miyabi:  Dude, Les Mis and Newsies are like probably my favorites.

…Are you talking like that on purpose??

Um…I know they're both Romance languages but…are they really that interconnected??  ???

I LOVE Les Miserables!!!!!!

Les Mis is okay.  I'd say Phantom and Gigi are my favorites.  Fiddler is a close second.

The 8th Grade French class is taking a trip to see Phantom of the Opera (I assume that's what you are talking about) on Thursday. LUCKY!!!

No, but I'm not writing sprawling epics like Jordan. And the manuscript entire will still be about 150,000 when I'm done with it, which I like to think is a decent length. :P

Isn't AMOL the only novel that's gone over 400k anyway?

Gah, I feel so unread. Or, unwatched I guess. Haven't seen a lot of the classic musicals, even though I'm familiar with the soundtracks of some of them.

I probably should. Seeing as I'm writing one and all.

@ silk I was exaggerating a bit for emphasis.

@ Shaggy I did mean Phantom of the Opera.  But the full title always reminds me of a 1930's horror flick that was NOT as good as Weber's version.

Spanish has some really fiddly grammar bits. Just wait until you get to subjunctive forms and all the odd ways you're supposed to use them.

Also, remembering all the conjugations of words that don't follow the rules and keeping all the command forms straight can be a pain. Not to mention that, when speaking Spanish (or any Romance language) keeping the gender of articles and adjectives consistent with the words they modify is a real and embarrassing problem. I don't know how native speakers do it so naturally that they get the gender of words like "chunche" (thingy) right even though the whole reason they're using "chunche" is because they can't remember the word they're thinking of!

Ugh. I'm grumpy right now because I'm realizing how much Spanish I've forgotten in the 5 years since my mission...

Subjunctive isn't all that difficult.

The native speakers do it the same way we do it. As irregular as English is, I'm glad I didn't have to learn it as a second language - but we use it all the time without thinking. It's internalized.

Jade - Have you seen Thoroughly Modern Milley?  It's one of my favorites.  That and Wicked.

Silk - If you ever record that song I definitely want an e-mail with it attached. haha.
