If you enjoy the degree you could take it and then relocate to where there are jobs afterward.
You can always get what you want if you never count the cost.

Oh that wasn't what I meant Renoard.  I meant that I can't be working in the field now and it's frustrating.

Well, it's hard now to be working in any field.

The important part of any education is that you gain skills that are valuable.  There are lots of fun majors but they only teach generic skills like "communications" and "critical thinking".  Specific techinical, mathmatical or scientific skills are much more valuable in the job market and simply open more opportunities.  Of course, for some of us, gaining techinical, mathmatical or scientific skills can require some amount of slogging through difficult and boring classes.  But the goal of an education should be to gain valuable skills and not just about studying a specific "major". Just about any major can work as long as the student is gaining the skills that the student needs for a successful career.  On this point, I say the more skills the better and I doubt that focusing on a single major alone will provide a satisfactory skill set.

Admittedly, I have four college degrees from three university and wish I could continue to go to school but I still have over $60,000 in student loans to pay off, plus a mortgage and car loan. Oh, and my wife and kids would like to go to school, too.

I have two majors and about $5,000 in student debt, and I expect that I'm in a much better position than you are financially, Lost One.  =þ  There is a point where school isn't worth the expense, I fear...

Wow, that pretty much sucks.  I figure so long as I get at least some form of degree I'm that much farther than my mother was.

I've been wondering, Miyabi.  Is your name related to Miyavi at all?

You are certainly a sharp one.  And also probably the first person to figure that out and I've been using the screen name for like 5 years.  Ha ha.

Yes it is related to Miyavi, but also the name Miyabi.  I liked both so I started using it online.  I actually used to have accounts in a few places where I used Miyabi as not just my screen name, but my actual name. :]

No, you get a prize if you know, without looking it up, in which thing he did Miyavi said

ありがとう、おれさま。

"Arigatou, oresama"?  (Assuming I've read the kana right, it's been so long...)

I certainly don't know Miyavi well enough to apply any significance to that.  I recognize only the ありがとう.  I'm not sure what the phrase in it's entirety might mean.

オレ is how I should have typed it.  It is a slang word for I.  It's from the movie Oresama.  In it he falls into the past and meets himself as a kid.

Near the end of the movie he says arigatou, oresama.  Thanking himself for what he learned from himself. . . . o.O  Wow, that sounded weird.

オレさま, eh? He must have a high opinion of himself. (Ban from GetBackers refers to himself this way.)
All Saiyuki fans should check out Dazzle! Emotionally wrenching action-adventure and quirky humor! (At least read chapter 6 and tell me if you're not hooked.) Volume 10 out now!

Well it's different.  It's like . . . he's talking to a different version of himself.  So it's not really HIM, but it is him all at the same time.  The other version of himself really opens his eyes to what it is he has and that just because his dreams didn't come true doesn't mean things didn't end up amazing.  So he was thanking the kid, who just happened to be himself, and giving the kid the title of さま, but wording it with オレ to make a play on the words, because you obviously would NEVER give yourself the title of さま.
