Is the Touch-And-Go trying to escape a gravitational field or something? There shouldn't be any forces associated with going fast. Accelerating, maybe, but when you're already at speed...

That may be true normally, but when your unifield feeds are wobbling, and your warship has the structural equivalent of advanced leprosy . . . as Scotty would say, "She can't take it, Cap'n."

Actually, it's the drag of the universal phlogistons against the antimatter containment fields that causes the difficulty, I think. You gotta keep your accumulators dry. ???
