Going to Disneyland this coming weekend is a happy thing.

Thunderstorms five days in a row!  Very unusual to get so much rain this time of year, but my garden loves it and my kids are all weirded out.

Okay I really buckled down decided where to split the acts and voila I was writing again.  Sometimes maintenance/busiwork helps me get back into the story.

I've started my translation of La Noble Science, which makes me feel somewhat accomplished.  Better yet, I discovered that a French HEMA group did much of the hard work of interpreting the thing (and even did a minimal amount of translation into English & modern French), leaving me to worry less about what they heck the text means, and more time to focus on providing a proper translation of what is meant (and written).

I'm very impressed by anyone translating, my language skills are horrible.  Are you doing this for fun, or some other reason?

I'm not sure "fun" is the right word, as it's fairly hard work.

I'm doing it, I guess, to expand the corpus of knowledge available in HEMA?  Also:  translating manuals is somewhat a matter of prestige, and as there are so few early French manuals in existence, and I don't know German or Italian, I thought I'd better jump on it.

A happy thing? I got a job interview for Monday. Here I was just about to give up on my summer job search after applying to like fourteen different places. I just thought if no one calls a week after Memorial Day, well, that's that.

Even better? The place who called me was the job I wanted most.
