I think I'll have to choose other and go more modern. My all time favorite rock album would have to be Hybrid Theory by Linkin Park. Chester Benningtons vocals are ridiculous and DJ Han is brilliant.

I agree with that statement, but I guess I have always put my "favorite" music in the older range. It is what I go back to time and time again, no matter what mood or state of mind I am in at the time. I seem to find the other stuff I listen to very mood driven. I don't think that qualifies it as a "favorite", although at times it is the music of choice. I guess that comes from having a fairly long time spanning love of music. :)

The Wall vs. Dark side is always a huge debate. Personally I really can't choose one or the other to be better, but i do enjoy the Wall a tad bit more. Plus the movie is just insane.

Although syncing Dark Side to Wizard of Oz is a hoot.

This is so true.  Those two albums may just have to go down in history as tied for first :D

I also enjoyed the Floyd-Oz  sync...very amusing :D

I guess I am in the minority here: I simply cannot stand Pink Floyd or Led Zepplin

Really not a big fan of the Who either, actually. None of that music really does anything for me. It has no bite.

Now Hendrix, thats something I can really get into. Deep Purple, Styx, Kiss, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath of course, But honestly, the 4 albums listed above wouldnt even make my top 100.

I'm not even going to start. I will let this be for now. If I come back on Monday and there are haters then I might have to elaborate but as for now you are entitled to your opinion.

ROFL!

I should mention that I am also a big big fan of Doo-Wop, like Dion and the Belmonts, the Five Satins and such.

Hows that for a combination. If I had an IPOD it would look something like this:

The Lion Sleeps Tonight; Dion
Behind the Crooked Cross; Slayer
In the Still of the Night; Five Satins
Bat Country; Avenged Sevenfold
Born On the Bayou; CCR
....

But I can asure you, there would be no Floyd, Zep or Who on there.

No bite? NO BITE?!

I kid, I kid. I may not agree with what you say, but I will defend your right to say it.

My musical tastes vary, but I was raised on classic rock and classic rock is where I'll lay my body to rest when it's over. Or something like that. There will be a classic rock song played at my funeral, none of that melancholy, depressing stuff. Something uplifting.

My favorite rock group which comes to mind at the moment is Siddharta.  They're Slovene Power Metal.

I'll probably think of groups I like more with time.  Rock is not my favorite supergenre.

I was raised on classic rock and 80's music. Things like Zepplin and the Doors alongside Echo and the Bunnymen and Howard Jones. Very odd musical catalog at childhood. Very odd ear for music nowadays.

As long as we don't say something "sucks" you're on good ground. It's one thing to not like a band like Led Zeppelin, it's a completely different thing to say they were bad players/songwriters/performers or didn't have a dramatic effect on the music scene. (Oh, and the drummer's last name was BONHAM, not Bonum)

Not liking to listen to something is 100% subjective (though you can still be wrong, such as in the case of hating on Rush or The Kinks...)

But saying someone can't play has a great deal of objectivity in it.

Anyway, when I did that article, and in this thread, I've forgotten to mention something

I bought a CD ona  whim once, though based on good information, and it has turned out to be my favorite album ever.

The Bob Dylan 30th Anniversary Concert is a 2-disc album with Bob Dylan songs performed by John Mellancamp, Ronnie Wood, Eric Clapton, Tom Petty, Roger McGuin, George Harrison, The Clancy Brothers, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Neil Young, Eddie Vedder, Lou Reed, Chrissie Hynde, and others. It is beautimous defined.

Eddie Vedder's "Masters of War" cover from that album blows me away every time I hear it, which is often.  ;D
