Well, if you consider that in the real world mankind (okay, people kind) didn't change from hunter-gatherers until 10,000 years ago. And then we really only have written history for about the last 4-5k. And really most people in the USA consider something made in the 1950s to be 'antique'. Yeah, 25,000 is a bit past humanities ability to remember.

1200 years is a nice breadth of time.
