When I say I have friends I trust to give me decent feedback, those are usually friends who are also writers. I trust them to do that because we all want the same thing.

Writer friends are the best.

I just ask my oldest sister to look at my stuff, the toughest critic I have. :)

Also its funny firstChristmaSnow, you said that you were almost scared to submit with a big name person here and then you said you were joking. I am scared to submit and I won't even lie to myself about it. Thats not to say that I wont its just showing the lack of confidence I have in my abilities.

I actually was compleatly joking.  I would rather let someone who I will more then likely never meet in person rip my piece to shreads.  I'm actually not all that shy of a person, and if I am, I get over it quickly.

Let me tell you this: so far I've read just about everything submitted, and so far no one has submitted something I just could not stomach to read. That sounds like a backhanded compliment, but it is true. And the posts are buzzing with observations, suggestions and even debates about what these people have submitted. This means folks are actually paying attention to what's been submitted.

The result is a good mix of writers and readers.

So fear not, y'all! Com'on in an tell us a tale'er two. We really want to hear what you have to say!

Sprig did no truimphing, he merely confused and astounded them long enough for you kids to finally get your powers... That'd be an awesome superpower, the ability to confuse and confound people....

Alright, now that I've dominated/ruined one thread, it's time to move to the next...

Hi! I'm Frog/Jacque. I just recently graduated from college, though it was not in writing. Not even remotely (I'm a nurse, believe it or not). Anyway, I have been working on my story (it's a fantasy) off and on since my freshman year of high school (about 7 years ago if you want to do the math and figure out how old I am). I never liked to show it to people, but I am now running out of things I can do with it on my own, so I am trying to show it to a few more people and see what I can do about submitting it. So I will have to apologize now for trying to push the submission limit (not the whole book in one go, but as much as I feel I can justify after reading the rules) since I have already kinda/sort of completed it. I hope you don't throw too many things at me....

Hey it's me:

It's even better when you're friends with a fellow writer...One of my roommates last semester was writing a book. Now she sends it to me, and I give her feedback--extensive--and I send her my chapters as I complete them, and she gives me feedback....It's a sweet little system we've got going.
I've already conquered the world. This is exactly the way I want it.

It's pronounced Jackie, though you wouldn't be the first one to call me Jacques... grrr....:)

Welcome Jacque, hope you get what you are looking for out of this (little?) group.  Well it was small but it's grown by leaps and bounds now.  Anyway have fun with us! ;D

It's ok to be strange, as long as it's on paper. :)

Careful, Avalon. You just might scare her away....It took me long enough to convince her to sign up for this, I'm not sure I'd be able to convince her to come back if she runs away....

And Jacque, you found that quote? I forgot I'd written that....haha
