So I was wandering around the web and came upon a website called TinEye.

"TinEye is the first image search engine on the web to use image identification technology. You can submit an image to TinEye to find out where and how that image appears on the web, or to find modified or edited versions." - http://tineye.com

I can't help but think that the creator of the website is a reader of Mistborn...that, or it's an extreme case of coincidence.

Very curious. I can't think what it's supposed to mean if it's not Mistborn-related. There's the "tin ear" expression, but that's negative, and I'm sure they're not going for that.

It might be related to Inkthinkers Art...or someone who posted drawings and the such about the books...

I doubt it. This had to be planned for longer than that. It could have been named in the last two years though.

That is interesting.

It is quite possible that it is nothing but a weird coincidence, but that's no fun! Speculation is much more entertaining.  ;)

S'got nothing to do with me.

It's quite possible that it's a Mistborn homage. It's an interesting software premise, something that I'd expect would be very useful when attempting to police the use of images online. Especially if the Orphan Works laws ever go into effect.

Doubtful. And the notion that it might be sheer coincidence, also doubtful. We need to figure this out.

by Idee back in 2001, several years before the first book in the
Mistborn series was published (which was 2006 I believe). It is quite a
coincidence, but the name TinEye was inspired by 'robot vision' and the
vintage tin robots from the 1950s! Thanks for checking out tineye.com."
