UK Publisher for Brandon?
« on: July 20, 2008, 09:26:21 AM »
Hey all,

Just a quick query - I noted some time ago that Brandon would be picking up the Wheel of Time gauntlet and with a clearout of bookmarks recently I was reminded of the fact so went down to my local book emporium to pick up a work or two of his to check out the writing style (plus I could do with new treeware, always!)

Alas and alack I couldn't find copy, because y'see I'm in the UK.

So, my question is for anyone in the know or Mr Sanderson himself - are there any plans to introduce Brandons works to the UK market. Previously, a lot of Tor works ended up with Orbit Books here in the UK but I note that Tor now has a UK division as well.

Which would be strange since Orbit do the Wheel of Time this side of the Pond...

Thoughts? Abuse? Comments?

So far, none of the UK publishers have expressed interest in publishing Brandon's books—except for the UK science fiction book club, which has put out at least Elantris. Brandon would love for a UK publisher to publish his books, but it's not exactly up to him.

Until then...there's always Amazon.

Anyway, Brandon's involvement in the Wheel of Time does not have any effect on who publishes the last book in what country. Those deals will stay the same (or if not, it's up to Harriet).

All Saiyuki fans should check out Dazzle! Emotionally wrenching action-adventure and quirky humor! (At least read chapter 6 and tell me if you're not hooked.) Volume 10 out now!

As long as Brandon has no Uk publisher his books on amazon are half the proce of books with a Uk publisher :p So it's all good.

Well, works for me that at least I know the wacky world of the internet and can order such articles in advance. Hopefully once his name is out through the Wheel of Time there'll be some interest in picking up some more of his work and get some more general UK coverage.

From what I've read so far, he should be deservedly UK mainstream fantasy too.
