Alcatraz audiobook
« on: April 06, 2007, 11:04:22 PM »
Hey! I just saw this on Amazon. What's the difference between the normal edition and the library edition? Is it unabridged?
All Saiyuki fans should check out Dazzle! Emotionally wrenching action-adventure and quirky humor! (At least read chapter 6 and tell me if you're not hooked.) Volume 10 out now!

Libraries aren't supposed to censor or change materials but the librarians that Brandon deals with are evil.

So he had to create a library edition with librarians that are better looking and more fashionable.  And I think Brandon had to add a scene vilifying people who damage library materials and re-shelf books (since they invariably put things back in the wrong place).   Did I forget anything?

Well, speaking as a librarian, a lot of the times the library editions of books are supposedly "sturdier"--more support on the binding, stronger end pages.  That sort of thing.  (Although it's usually not that much better.  For a really good book, we send them off to Bound to Stay Bound, a company that does a really good job making books that don't last into books that do.)  A library edition of an audio book . . . not really sure.  We always end up making our own cases and everything for audio books so they fit our collection.  And since the subject of the book is evil librarians, I suppose there's a chance Scholastic's doing something special with it.

Also, is it read by you, Brandon?

I honestly know very little about the audiobook.  It will be my first, I'm not reading it, and I have NO idea why it's listed as a 'library edition.'

First, I don't know why we are whispering, but why are we whispering in other languages too?? ;)

I like audiobooks, sometimes. I think if they find the right person to do the reading it can go very well. I also would be curious to know the difference between the two editions though. Is there a way perhaps that we could find out, so as not to take EUOL away from his writing? ;)

Yes SE, the spear and magic helmet set. :) I would very much like one, I think.

Also, translations would be great too ;)
