MB2 release party?
« on: March 19, 2007, 07:03:32 AM »
Ok, so maybe it's still a bit early to think about, but I was wondering if there were any plans for the release party for MB2 yet. MB1 was in Provo and I was hoping that MB2 would follow suit. I've somehow managed to convince my husband to let me fly out for it if it is. ;D Besides, there's a small anime con in SLC at the end of August one of my friends wants me to come out for and I have family in the area -  although that may all be just a happy coincidence...

English doesn't borrow from other languages. English follows other languages down dark alleys, knocks them over and goes through their pockets for loose grammar.

My bookstore connections informed me that they are taking reservations for MB2.  EUOL will want to confirm this, but I do believe that an event is planned (or in process).  Considering how well MB1 did at the pre-release event, I can't see Tor not saying ok to another one for MB2.

Tor is on board.  I'll be doing the pre-release on the 18th of August, most likely.  Anyone who is on the Waldenbooks pre-release list will get a numbered copy.  We'll do this one a little earlier in the day than the last one, hopefully, then maybe do diner afterward.

What about those of us who aren't in Utah and want signed/numbered copies?
can I send cash to someone going to buy it for me still?

Yes indeed.  Though, I'd suggest having them put your name on the list as well.

I just called and got on the list.  They are also taking "reservations" for Alcatraz!

I ended up quitting the bookstore for a whole lot of reasons...EUOL knows most of the story.  Looks like it may have been a good thing since they are planning on closing like 300 waldenbooks in the US this year.  I basically only go in there now when there are big signings.  I will go to this release party though, and I'll do dinner after with whoever is going.

hmm. That's no good. :(

Anyway, you seemed to enjoy the job so much that I got all puzzled why you weren't our resident Bookstore Guy anymore. Sorry that you didn't leave the job under happier circumstances. But, hey, I'm sure the signing and dinner afterwards will be much fun regardless of that.

I was always sad I missed the MB1 release party.  I meant to go and then didn't because I got confused as to the date.  I still have a full collection of signed BS books though...I really hope I make it to this one.  I know my wife's on board.

Candylion,

I'll be in Cali eventually, but probably not until the end of the year.

Morinar, I hope you can make it!  If it's anything like last year, it will be a blast.  We'll have door prizes and maybe even refreshments.

Free prizes AND free food? I'm not sure how anybody could resist that!

Oh, and I think there might be a great new book coming out at the same time.  ;)

I really don't know where I'm going to be. I could be in Boston, L.A. or Japan. Hopefully Japan, albeit 3 books are coming out: Mistborn: The Well of Ascension, HP & Deathly Hallows (ah sue me), and Red Seas under Red Skies (Sequel to The Lies of Locke Lamora).

shw00t....but I might be gone...grrrr. Then again it's to furhter my art career...ah the life of a fantasy-obsessed asian gir.
