I can't load the "and so it begins" topic.  it crashes my IE.  Same with the TWG Ego Trip in the suggerstions box.  everything else works fine.  are there problems with those threads?

I can't see anything different about those threads. Just keep trying them. Or restart your computer. Doesn't that always fix everything?

In Windows, there's only one tech support step to take after the restart fails: FFR.

No seriously, if it's a network problem, sometimes removing the network stack entirely and replaceing it helps, but very little is going to fix a recurrent problem in Windows if a driver upgrade and a restart don't help.
