Another New Game!
« on: August 28, 2003, 04:54:16 PM »
Entropy's list brings to light the fact that most of the big posters are in at least one game, but very few people are involved in two games. Is there enough interest that we should start another game, or is the market already saturated?

I would certainly be interested in another game. I demand that Slant does a forum LoTR. And its nice to know my list is doing something :)
If you're ever in an argument and Entropy winds up looking staid and temperate in comparison, it might be time to cut your losses and start a new thread about something else :)

I second that.  Slant needs to run LOTR for us.

Since no reply from Slant, im gonna resurect my previous interest: how about historical RPGing? Setting a game in a historical setting, Victorian England, Ancient Rome, Ancient Greece whatever. I think there is enough interest in historical periods here at TWG to spark interest. And you can find everything online, so information would be easy to come by (and no need to buy books). A generic system would be best - ST D10, BESM would be my favourites, but i dont know GURPs so maybe that would be good (and it has the books to support it).

Hey, if someone wants to run a LOTR I'd love to give it a try! I didn't notice the Avast Ye game in time, so I'm free, at least.

I have to give fair warning that my schedule is pretty busy these days, but I will try really really hard to keep up.

ok people lets try and get something going.  Brian, Entropy, Fell and Jeffe want to join a new game.  Entropy has said he might be willing to GM if people speak up.  I might be willing too, but the only thing I feel like running is Star Wars (WEG).  There are still several people who can join another game if they want (max of two games per person).  So speak up if you want to play.  My offer will last till the end of the week, if no one wants to play Star Wars then I'm not going to ask again.

well there's only one historical game (to be technical) which is AORP.  AY isn't set in this world.

No, but LOTR would be. Er.. sort of, anyway. I guess it depends on whether you care to connect Middle Earth with Europe and consider them one, as per Tolkien lore.

I doubt even Tolkien would consider an LotR game to be historical, no matter how heavily he based his writings on Europe.

Plus AORP deliberately has a mangled history designed specifically to represent the world described in various literatures rather than the actual Medieval history of our Europe.

And Avast Ye! isn't historical either.  Sure, it has historical elements, but I'm trying to be more true to the genre more than true to life.  Much like SE is with AORP.

Well ok, but its Pirates.... :)

Incidentally thanks to that game I picked up a copy of Savage Worlds and it rocks.

So I was thinking... how would people like to play a Sharpes Regiment Style game. Modeled after Flintloque and using Savage worlds again. With orcs and elves (Orc's are King Georges own and Elves are the Bully Emperors, oh and we're fighting for Halfling Gurillas of the penninsula) Theres secret missions, derring do and the occasional Halfling lass.
