Numbers
« on: June 29, 2005, 09:55:57 PM »
Well, we've talked before about how hard it is to track numbers, but I just read a press release from Covenant and it said that since June 1, they've sold about 3500 copies of my book.  Now this is just books sold to book stores, so I'm sure that of that 3500 about 1000-1500 are still in stores, but I have been told that a lot of the seagull stores have been reordering, so that is probably good news.

I'm a bit surprised because I've been tracking Deseret Book numbers and they have only sold a whopping 80 copies.

Anyway, hopefully this is a good sign.

Yeah.  It's so nerve-wracking to sit around and wait on numbers and returns and all of that.  (Which is one of the reasons I like Amazon--it, at least, gives a little bit of a clue as to how the book is selling.)

I'm not surprised to see that Seagull sold several thousand while DB sold about 80.  Remember the Seagull quota system that HoM has talked about, plus the prominent featuring they do of Covenant books.  Placement can mean quite a lot.

I still don't know any hard numbers, but I made Seagull's best selling list...

I guess it's still all relative.

Hope you like it!  :)

It's interesting how the numbers go...  I went about 30 a week for three weeks, then jumped up to 60.  And then this week I think it's 10, as of today...

A couple of DBs have sold out, but they haven't ordered more.  A store I went to last Saturday said they had sold about 100 in the 6 weeks it had been out.

And all of that means nothing to me since I don't have anything to compare it to.  :)  I'm just glad that so far people seem to have like it.  Or at least not hated it.
