Speaking of Stet, as I was going through my stuff before I moved, I found one of Stet's early works. It was from the year I was in TLE. I can't remember what it was about.

Stet has written many, many esoteric works.  As an inter-stellar space action hero, he has lots of stories to tell.

Did you get your copy, Stacer?  I'm not all that confident in my email powers up here in Idaho.

Yeah, got it. Won't have internet access from home for a bit, though, so it might be a week or so before I get to it. Plus I've got all the new-girl stuff to catch up on here at work and all the new-girl stuff to go to at church to meet people, etc. But by next week, I'm sure I'll figure it out. Fell is actually first in line, though, because he sent me Blacker Darkness last week.

I got mine, although I only needed the last chapters.

I keep having to cut and paste and put the new chapters into the document I'm editing. What I do for you, EUOL!

Ok, you haven't sent me a copy yet (probably because I haven't asked, but I should probably just be on your reading list for comments on all your manuscripts),
but...
why did you call it "alcatraz"? Do you MEAN that to resonate with the famous prison?

Since no one has addressed this question, I will, attempting to do so without writing anything that would be regarded as a "spoiler."

The main character's name is Alcatrez Smedry. He himself reflects on his parents' strange sense of humor at giving him such a name, instead of something more sensible like Alexander or Alfonso.

I expect EUOL wanted very much to resonate with the famous prison. He's like that, you know.

I don't really dig the title, to be honest, because it sounds too much like a tired retread of Lemony Snicket or Artemis Fowl. Funny fake names just seem to play into that, and make me not want to read it. But, given that it is YA, I'm not really in the target demographic--evoking books your audience has already read might be the right way to go.

I did enjoy the Stet reference, though.

Chimera:

In the 2.0 version, I made some changes to the chapters you'd already read, making them consistent with the latter chapters.  So, you might find some oddities popping up between the two versions.  Just a warning!

*Sigh*
Even more work. You know I have issues with computers!

Although my new laptop and I seem to be getting along fairly well. I haven't named it yet though...perhaps that would make it less moody.

That's allright, though--about the changes. As you know, I tend to like to read things twice anyways before I give comments.

Cinder:  You're in Utah, right?  I'm wary of sending off e-copies of books to people I don't know--since it would take them all of three clicks to stick the entire text on-line.  However, I'd be more than happy to get the physical copy to you sometime, so you could do an alpha-read for me.

Yep, I'm in Utah. I completely understand why you're wary of sending e-copies. Of course, if you did know me, you'd know I have no idea how to do any HTML stuff or make web sites. I know how to send and open attachments and paste stuff in emails, but I'm no webmaster.

But anyway, I would really love to be an alpha-reader. Yet I spoke too soon. As usual with me, I've piled my plate really high with various projects, so I don't have much time to add other stuff. :'(

And, actually, I didn't expect you'd be willing to trust an "unknown" like me with a copy! (Nothwithstanding my musical spoofing talents.) It's cool for you to offer, though! So I'm definitely sorry I can't take you up on doing a read--at least not for a month or two, if then.

I like the "Based on a story" part. Makes me think of Hidalgo.

I'd like to read it, if Stet doesn't mind.
