So I'm just going to post the odd spelling or grammatical error that I run across while reading Dark One Intro that I think is funny. So far this is my favorite:

a face set with bushy white eyebrows, a bushier white mustache, and a the most bushiest long white beard in the land.

I doubt it, Lightning. Look at the way he uses both "a" and "the." My guess would be that he didn't know exactly what he wanted to say, so he made multiple tries before settling on something, with the problem being that he didn't completely erase what he meant to say first.

Okay, I got lazy and just read through the rest of it. but here are some more:

Got to get away! He thought, twisiting.

This should be twisting.

He wasn't completely passionless, but he was decidely temperate.

Should be decidedly.

I'm nopt really that important a person.

If you need me to tell you then you are blind.

I could do more but my computer is being stupidly slow.

Note to EUOL, my comments will be forthcoming in the next week or so, depending on when I get around to it. call me a procrastinator one more time, I dare you. (note to e. Do NOT call me a procrastinator like you did when you called me insecure on the Giving Away Books! thread. I mean it!)

Well, the typos will be taken care of (one would hope... ) by the copyeditor in a much later stage of revision, so that's not something most writers worry about. Myself, I'm too much the editor (read: compulsive perfectionist--hence the reason I went into editing professionally instead of writing). Sounds to me like you're putting yourself on a professional track there, GreenPerson.

Like I always say, editing is just a socially acceptable channel for people with obsessive-compulsive tendencies and writing skills.

I will note, in my defense, that I told One Eye that this was a very rough draft.  I haven't even re-read some of the sections I sent him.

Sample chapters this early in the process are, for me, meant to kind of be like the rough sketches that an artist does.  They're quick, and they get shapes, without focusing on details.  So, I don't take much care for proofreading.

That said, I'm--as many of you know--quite proficient at creating typos.  I have the same...ability to create unique spellings of words that my brother has.  I just spellcheck more.
